it was amazing
bookshelves: life-changing-books

When I was going through the roughest spiritual time in my life, this book not only restored my faith in myself as a minister and my ministry in general, but restored my faith in God.

It also showed me the God I always wanted to believe in, but was afraid to. I will forever be grateful for this book.

message 1: by Djschoon (new)

Djschoon Hi Chuck,

It is God's word that gives us direction, not a book written by man. When man disagrees with God, which often is done, then the messages isn't from God.

We live in world that wants man's wisdom. Wisdom that will excuse our sin.We will give account to HIm.
Don't look to people for true wisdom or comfort. God's word never changes.
Release comes through obedience.

Praying you will look to our Lord.

Jean

Chuck Smoot You know, it's interesting. Instead of celebrating someting that reaffirms someone's relationship with God, that you would find fault with it. I guess there is only one way and one path to God and unless it's not yours, it's invalid, right?

Nevermind mind the fact that the word of God is in a "book" that was "written by men." Nevermind the fact that you don't know exactly WHAT I was looking for or what I was going through at the time, instead, you are preferring to make assumptions.

I am quite satisfied with my relationship and my walk with God, and as it is a personal situation between me and my God, your criticisms on the manner in which I established a healthier relationship with God ring quite shallow.

The bottom line is that CWG (and the subsequent books) are wonderful examples of God's everlasting Love and compassion for all people, and it gave me strength at a time when I needed it most. God led me to those books for me to learn from it and to remind me that God's Love for me is every present and ever available. Anyone who would have a problem with that, don't take it up with me, take it up with God.

Indah hello, Chuck..

i think there are a lot of aspects in CWG that are actually against the bible. you could read my review if you'd like to hear more.

i prefer to read "The God Who Changes Lives", edited by Mark Elsdon-Dew, to strengthen my faith and to reopen my eyes of God's loving hands in every individual's life. it's really inspiring and encouraging. :-)

Laura Wilcox Chuck, I'm with you. It changed my life and allowed me to love myself as God created me, which has freed me to share my blessings with others. I found this book when I was literally begging God for answers; it brought me back to belief in Him from atheism, directly to a personal relationship with Him. "Seek and ye shall find" is more true to me now, and sadly is lost to those who find more comfort in following man's version of God than the true essence of God (which is evident in the hostility of those who find themselves somehow opposed to your delight in this book). I say that anything that brings you peace brings the world peace too. I'm glad you found a blessing in it along with me. Namaste <3

Jessica I love reading reviews like this. They are honest and straightforward. What I don't like reading are people who have to find fault with something that brought significant peace to another. I will be reading this book, and I want to thank those naysayers who discouraged reading this book because it 'goes against the Bible'; for this is perhaps a text I have been looking for for a long time and that phrase encourages me to seek it out.

Pam Chuck,

Not only am I reading it but I am loving that it not only reaffirms my ideas of spirituality but I understand that both this and the Bible are written by men and edited by even more men. I believe not only in God but in the Universe that is in all of us. My beliefs may be drastically differing from yours or they may be quite similar but I think this book is getting me closer to who I am supposed to be.

Do not let those that do not see "yet" what they are supposed to be deter you from walking your path!

Always becoming,

Pam

kisha Chuck, Pam, and Indah...Where is the like button when you need it? Great comments. I have only read a tiny piece of the book. I want to read more. Not to use it as a Bible so to speak but for reference. For understanding. I have a very strong faith and belief in God, but my belief in every single word of the Holy Bible and the "religious" aspect of Christianity is shaky. What makes me shamefully question the Bible is that it has been transfered in thousands of languages using many crucial words that can't be translated to English which makes me wonder not if the Bible is bad or misguided, but is it accurate. And as far as religion...the Christian church folk and ministers have totally turned me off. I believe God is more spiritual than religious. When you think about it the word religion is only used 3 times in the King James Bible! But I'm getting off track so I will end it by saying thanks for your review and hopefully it will be able to help me understand my journey with Christ more. Not that I'm dumping the Bible or anything like that. But it's nothing wrong with going to someone else for spiritual advice. Isn't that what pastors, ministers, prayer partners....are all for? (That was for all the super Christians that I know will crucify me for my comment) *wink*!

Kimberly Beautiful review, and I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Wolfespepe Vischer Thanks Chuck.. I'm glad someone else can appreciate it too.. Coincidence or not.. I had two problems.. a Corporate and a legal Problem.. I read the Start of this Book then went about my way.. in One Day and One Night they were solved after thrashing my pillow in sleepless nights for Weeks.. I was so relieved I'd forgotten that I'd read it until a few days later.

Hailee I concur, Chuck, Kisha, Pam, Jessica, Laura...the comments are great, the like button would be nice, goodreads!!? The Shack is also really good. A bit far-fetched, but inspiring & reassuring nonetheless.

Roberta I read comments to determine if it sounds like a book I’d like to read. I’m so sorry to “hear the social media drama responses to Chuck’s review. It’s his review of the book - people have no right to judge or advise him on anything really, they don’t know him. This site is about the love of books and stories. Go to twitter for drama. Off my soapbox. Peace be with you.

message 12: by John (new)

John Barron Be careful of channeled works. I was into the “New Age for twenty years because my Christian upbringing seemed too harsh for me. I actually flew to Oregon to be with Neale Donald Walsh for an entire week because I was so into Conversations with God. I was into faith healers, being “one with others, meditating on mountains in Sedona, etc. However, almost all the “New Age stuff shares the same basic philosophies if you study it, and I found out the hard way it is all a lie. Hell, unfortunately, is real. So are demons. I did not want it to be true either. Read the Bible. It warns of this stuff. If someone had told me what I am telling all of you two years ago, I would have seen them as biased, unenlightened and ignorant. Read the Bible with an open mind. This is your soul... Demons were manifesting to me towards the end in dreams night after night, and I am not crazy. And, I did not believe in demons! I asked Jesus to show me the truth of what I was studying and doing, and Jesus showed me the way. Read, the Beautiful Side of Evil. Start there...

message 13: by Adam (new)

Adam Meade Well said, John. I'm saddened that a "minister" could be so easily deceived. There is plenty to question about the Bible, but there are solid theological answers. I, too, took in the doctrines of lying spirits at one time in my life and we're going to see more and more of this as the hour grows later. We in the fold need to know the wiles of the adversary.

Marina Ospina Gonzales This book showed me the different forms of God. Always he stayed with as. Is a different forms to believe in. I will forever be grateful for this book.

Lewismartin This book is the DEVIL .you you have all been tricked Any one thinks this is not the devil is very stupid. This spiret that claims to be God evan tells us its the devil. I can't believe people are so stupid. God doesn't tallk to people that way. It's got nothing in common with the bible or Christianity. this spiret that claims to be God is not telling you to do Christian things. The DEVIL lies.q And he's more intelligent than any human. Qoat from conversation with God. Interesting your blasphemy how wish to be like the devil.

Conrad De Swardt This book and the follow ups CWG 2 & 3 changed my life completely.

From growing up in a Christian home and schools to ultimately rebelling against God and religion, becoming a full blown atheist, I found God again through reading these books.

Makes 100 000% more sense than the bible. It felt like God was talking to me directly.

A must read (conversation) for any lost soul.

IF THE STUDENT IS READY THE TEACHER WILL APPEAR.
