really liked it

** spoiler alert ** This is a fun and fascinating read, not only on its own merits, but also as part of what I like to call the 'male romance' genre. This, along with other manly titles like 'From Here to Eternity', make me giggle because they so closely parallel women's romance novels in the point-by-point adherence to a checklist of what their reader desires. And Shogun hits all the points: a handsome, tall, well-endowed man is, by virtue of his awesomeness, the ONLY person who could succeed in a dangerous situation. Along the way, he is desired by every woman and falls in love with one of them(always a perfect beauty with the proper mix of smarts, sass, and submission). She then dies or is somehow or other taken out of his world so that he can just remember how amazing she was, but leaving him free to enjoy other women and adventures. Still, it's a great book. "Until you, I never truly knew what love was, Anjin-San."

Mustafa-Jafar Wow, thats a take on Shogun i haven't heard before. Can't really refute it though :) . But to be honest there is a lot more going for the book than just the 'male romance'. Ive put up a review of the book on my site, (maybe you'll find some more 'male romances' there), hope you'll check it out and tell me what u think. thanks.

Danielle I'm reading it now and I do get the idea of male romance. However, there is truly a lot more going on than that. I hate romance novels for their simplicity. I wish more women try for these type of novels.

Amanda Clay Of course there's a great deal more going on~ it's a really smartly written, evocative period piece and a heck of a lot of fun, but the male romance aspect is not to be denied.

Danielle Yeah, the male romance aspect is definitely there. His penis is mentioned one too many times.

Nancy Brumback Talking about penis-mentioning, immediately reminds me about Earth's Cildren. (Sorry about that.)

Krad23 This is the best review of a book I have ever read :'D

Nilsy007 Do agree any book that describes a penis is a romance book. Bit embarrassed to have read enough of them to know this.
