Corrupt is the first book written by Penelope Douglas I've read, and it won't be my last ! This captivating and intense suspense was a page-turner with an intriguing plot that really accelerates towards the end of the book.

With present and past storytelling, the reader slowly discovers an intricate web of deceit, and the consequences of misunderstandings that lasted for years. To be honest, around 40%, I was constantly waiting for the next shoe to drop and it didn't for a long time, which kind of drove me crazy ! But the brilliant ending of the story more than made up for that.

Erika Fane has lived a privileged and sheltered life. After the decease of her father, she has found a second home with the wealthy family Crist. She has been friend with one of their son, Trevor, since childhood and their families expected them to tie the knot one day. But Erika is attracted to Trevor's older brother Michael.

She is tired of her quiet teenager's life and craves excitment and some danger. She also desperately wants to be seen by Michael. This is the reason why she joins him and his group of bad boy friends on Devil's Night. And what began as a wild adventure will have dire consequences for Michael's friends. The group will discover that money and power cannot get them out of everything.
Their actions will result in 3 years imprisonment. During this whole period, they will plan their revenge against the person they see as responsible for it. Michael Crist is the mastermind behind this revenge scheme. But did they target the right person ?

Despite having great chemistry with Erika, I found that Michael Crist was very flawed. He is very unapologetic, never questions his actions and, in my opinion, will be forgiven by Erika way too easily. But that's only a small complaint I have.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Corrupt and did I mention that some sexy scenes were really hot !
