it was amazing

I was forced into watching Mockingjay: Part II this weekend. To clarify, I watched the second part of the last Hunger Games movie without having read any of the books, without having watched any of the movies.

Needless to say, I was confused as fuck.

So many questions and thoughts ran through my mind as I watched the movie. Why is Peeta so thin? Did that huge-ass bruise really disappear from her neck the next day? Is Katniss supposed to look like she's about to burst into tears at any given moment, or is that just Jennifer Lawrence? Woody Harrelson is in this movie? Hey, it's Margaery from Game of Thrones! Who's President Snow? What's a Mockingjay? Lesser Hemsworth is pretty hot.

Well, you get the point. I know how the book ended and I still have no idea who anyone is, and neither do I know their names, with the exception of Peeta, Gale, President Snow, that Coin woman, and Katniss. Of course, knowing how the book ended means I probably should read the first book, so here I am, the last person on earth to read The Hunger Games.

And it was good. It was really good. My sister was right (she usually is).

What else can I say that hasn't already been said? I loved it. The world building was interesting (although it helps that I've seen what it looks like on the big screen), and Katniss is awesome. One of the things my sister didn't like about the first movie is that the on-screen Katniss was different from her portrayal in the first book. I haven't watched that movie, but I kind of see how the screen portrayal of Katniss might have bothered her. Book-Katniss is strong, kick-ass without being a Mary Sue. She has a fierce love for her sister, and she is manipulative and cunning. She uses the prospect of romance to protect herself, she has no qualms about using people, and I love that about her.

Time to watch Movie #1!

Amelie You are indeed the last person to read The Hunger Games. And I envy you for this right now. SO MUCH.

Jess I am glad that you have got your Hemsworth priorities in order :D I have only read the first book but I found the screen adaption to be pretty servicable, based on the fact that they could not show EVERYTHING.

Rebekah I'm so glad that you loved it!

Angela Yay! I'm glad the movie prompted you to read the books - I love them.

Doesn't everyone thinks Chris is the prime species of male perfection?

Jess I don't know, some seem to prefer the Lesser Hemsworth or even brother no 3 but according to Fug Nation he seems to clean up rather nicely during the Mockingjay press:

Angela I thought the movie adaptions were pretty awesome actually. I missed some things, and a few other nitpicky things bothered me, but overall - really, really well done. And Jennifer Lawrence is totally how I picture Katniss now.

Lesser Hemsworth is pretty hot - but I still prefer Chris...LOL

Alienor ✘ French Frowner ✘ LMAO. Well, it's never too late to start isn't it (or it is, but oh well). I can imagine your confusion >.< Glad you loved the book :D

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies Those sad, forsaken souls. :( They'll be in my prayers.

Ange: I don't like Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss...

Angela :(

I thought she captured the part pretty perfectly, so she became the character for me.

But I'm the odd one that doesn't love Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, so I get it too ;)

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies I pictured someone wiry and lean and not so...sleek-looking. She is supposed to be starving, after all.

And DanRad was ok in the beginning, but grew into such a gawky teen.

Ah. Yeah, I get that. I accepted it for a couple of reasons - she (Jennifer Lawrence) didn't want super-thin glamorized (and you know it would have been because Hollywood loves to). So I just took it as Katniss' hunting ensured they were better fed than most others in 12.

In the first movie she was sleek-looking? I haven't seen the last movie yet, so I can't even comment - though some of the promos make me wonder...

See, I disliked Daniel Radcliffe more in the beginning. Towards the end, I could start to see the acting and he was portraying the part, but in the beginning he wasn't acting (really well yet), and he just wasn't Harry Potter.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* I had issues with the first movie, mostly because so much of The Hunger Games takes place in Katniss's head. Because to portray how she was really feeling would mean instant death.

Yeah, I agree. Movie #2 was so much better to me for that reason.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* Yes, for me as well, Anna!

It is (though I've yet to see Mockingjay #2 - why did 300 pages necessitate two fucking movies, again?????) one of the better book to movies, in my opinion.

Lisazj1 Hunger Games and Catching Fire were 2 of my favorite books. Katniss is a n incredible character. But Mockingjay made me absolutely regret reading it. If you saw the movie, you know why.

Yeah I didn't see Mockingjay #2 yet either. And I know right? *roll eyes* It's been a trend since HP#7. Whatever.

I love the movies as well despite that and despite that my Peeta isn't portrayed as I would have chosen (even if his acting is great, I admit).

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* I actually thought they cast very well, although the actor - while incredibly good - does nothing for me... but then I never really liked Peeta, well I did but in a quiet way... which the actor works for, I think.

WHOLE SERIES SPOILER(view spoiler)

I think that was the hardest part of the first movie, too - that's part of why I loved her because her facial expressions said so much to me.

OH MY GOSH. I'm so shoked I can't breathe. Okay, what a drama queen I am, right? BUT KARLY!

Okay. You know I love you so I'm going to forget this and think about Colin instead.

Mary ~Ravager of Tomes~ Your opinion may or may not change once you have read the last book in the series! By the third book Katniss' tough demeanor is wearing thin & she's extremely ready for things to be over. In the first movie Lawrence has a bit more of that strength you see from the books! I haven't seen the last movie yet but the last book was disappointing to me. :/

The ending was some serious Lord of the Rings shit.

KARLY! NO! WHY?!

I liked Gale (view spoiler), but I was always Team Peeta. (view spoiler)

But Wendy HATES Gale. (view spoiler) So now we watch the movies, and she's all 'Nobody likes you Gale!' and the kids do the same thing! LOL.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* I'm a hunter's daughter (sister and grand-daughter), Anna. I like men of action, who know how to take care of themselves.

But yes, Colin *le sigh*

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies I only like Gale because Liam Hemsworth. Josh Hutcherson stood no chance.

YES, I'M SHALLOW!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, Angela. That's basically me watching the movie. Oops.

That's okay, Karly, I get it. I'm all about cakes soo. OBVIOUSLY.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* Well I seriously WHOLE SERIES SPOILER (view spoiler) but overall I tend to like men who fight head on with fists and fury, over men who love and bake cakes..... it's a thing. *shrugs*

Although, I have to agree with the ending WSS (view spoiler)

YES. I mean, WHOLE SERIES SPOILER (view spoiler)

Now, I'm NOT talking about actors preference.(view spoiler)

You say that like it's a bad thing ;)..... it's hard to compete with Hemsworth genes.... Hutcherson looks like a wholesome brotherly way (which is definitely not my type.)

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies I would hate to be the last Hemsworth brother :|

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* I can't disagree, Anna.... it's just usually not something that appeals to me in a character. I tend to like the hot-heads.

Nastassja Don't shoot me guys, I think I am the only one here who doesn't like Hemsworth brothers. I don't know why but they do nothing to my pulse xD

Also I think that the first movie was meh, the other parts were way better and I think it has a lot to do with the director who saved the movies from mediocrity, IMO.

Jennifer Lawrence was good in movies, especially in Mockingjay: Part I and II - the most emotional of all 4 movies. She showed the range of emotions that made me believe her. But every romantic scene between her Liam Hemsworth or Josh Hutcherson felt awkward, just did not feel the chemistry between them. In books Katniss is a serious kick ass heroine and I always thought that she didn't need any boys, she was that good on her own.

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies It's ok, Nastassja. More Hemsworth for the rest of us.

Ehhhhhhhh.... he's not ugly but standing next to his brothers does NOTHING for his appeal :/

Angela LMAO Khanh! I can't say it's a bad choice :P

Alienor - I just laugh now. She really gets upset when there are extra (view spoiler) ^_^

Ashley Marie Ahhhh Khanh so glad you're getting to these! I only read them for the first time last year, so you're not too late! I can only cringe imagining how confused you were by the final movie. I think on my first read I devoured all three books in three days O.O

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* @ Ange: Nathan spoiler (view spoiler)

Karly, I tend to like men who fight as well - so normally I'd totally be Team Gale, but there was something off there. I think I was irritated by (view spoiler)

Karly, I agree, too - (view spoiler)

Hannah: Katniss doesn't deserve Peeta - Agreed. I think Haymitch says it (view spoiler) And he's right. But I think she starts to, especially in Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

Khanh, first of her name, mother of bunnies I like book Peeta more than movie Peeta. Josh Hutcherson was such an unfortunate choice.

Oh, I know the other famous family who can compete with Hemsworth genes.
Skarsgård brothers

Though there's also the third one and he is not hot (I don't know what is it about the third brothers...)

Definitely. I grew used to him, but still.
