it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction

Bought in 1984 or 85, from a distinctly alternative bookshop on the walk from Sneinton to Trent Polytechnic (Nottingham)

I remember being impressed at the time. Whether by the writing or the reputation I do not recall. Knowing the shallow & callow youth in question I fear it was the latter.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

Kevin Ansbro I applaud your honesty, Ray. But please give it a second viewing; it's an absorbing read!

I read it twice in the 80s. It is on the long list for a re-read. Though current focus is on shrinking the to read pile - 60+!

If I do find time for a re-read The Tin Drum is next
