it was amazing

Mudbound has everything I look for in a book. I love books that challenge the way I view myself and the world. I love southern literature and stories involving WWII. I love books that are charged with emotion. That's why I love this book so much. War is hell. It is appalling how we as humans treat others. How we can view Hitler as pure evil for his views on white supremacy when many in America held similar views in regards to blacks. This is a story of trying to survive such hatred. It is also a story of surviving the challenges of living on a farm and finding strength while overcoming loss. An amazing read. Got goosebumps. Had tears in my eyes. The ending was more than satisfying. It rang true. Was one of the better endings I've read. One of the best books I've read. Thankful a fellow reader from Shelfari suggested.

Michelle Hi Jonas ~ I am not sure if I was that specific Shelfari friend but I do remember chatting with you about it awhile back and YES.....Mudbound is one of my all-time favorites. Your review is exactly how I felt as well. Such an amazing and riveting story. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Trust me it will stay with you for a very long time !!

Jonas You were! Thank you so very much. I read on Hillary Jordan's Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ account she is working on a sequel due out Fall 2016 if all goes as planned. Not sure how I feel about that, but will definitely read it. To me it will be like reading Go Set a Watchman after To Kill A Mockingbird. Nothing can compare to the emotional impact of the first book read. I hope that I am wrong and the sequel will be just as amazing.

Michelle Interesting you would say that because when I learned she was working on a sequel, part of me thought I just might want to leave that story in my head (and heart) just as it is.....We'll see.

Barbara Very persuasive review Jonas! I didn't know it was a book. I remember it was a series on TV or I think it was. Great to know. I always want ideas for books when I'm in a lull. Great review Jonas!

Thank you, Barbara. I really appreciate it. Yes. It was a movie on Netflix. I heard it was amazing. I haven't checked the movie out yet. I strongly recommend Mudbound to all readers, but especially those who love historical fiction.
