A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

I just finished reading this less than 5 minutes ago and I'm between hanging my mouth open in shock and staring in awe.
1st off, I want to slap myself for not reading this sooner. I thought it had the dreaded love triangle, so I avoided it even though I wanted to read it so bad. No love triangle here folks. Tamlin becomes a hated hybrid of douchebag, overbearing a**hole, and possessive piece of s**t. Then to top it off, at the end, he adds traitorous stupid bastard to the list. Ughh.
Secondly, I liked Rhys in the 1st book, if only for his cunning ways, but I LOVED him in this book. To find out why he did many of the things he did and to see the Rhys behind the carefree mask was amazing. Was he still vicious killer, yes, but it was more than necessary and I simply adored him for the way he loved Feyre without letting that love smother and coddle her. I loved that he helped to heal her after what happened under the mountain and then with Tamlin.
Thirdly, Feyre. She has become one of my favorite heroines. She was fierce and embraced her newfound powers and I just loved who she became so much. She was broken at the beginning of the story in so many ways and Tamlin just broke her more and more. Then she started to heal with Rhys, not just because he freed her, but because he reminded her how strong she was. How independent she was. How she had let herself become someone she wasn't and needed to wake up and fight. She became a warrior, she became a sharp, dangerous weapon, she became someone to be terrified of. The sacrifice she made at the end was unbelievable.
And last, but most certainly not least, Rhys' inner circle. They were some of the best and most loyal friends anyone could ask for. The back stories you did find out were horrible, but they turned that pain into a fierce protectiveness (is that a word?) for the city of dreams and Rhys.
The romance, the action, the revelations, just everything made this one of the best reads of this year for me. Looking forward to the next book is an understatement.

"I (with much trepidation) begin this book knowing a love triangle lays within, but I've been assured one guy becomes an utter douchebag, therefore removing himself from Feyre's heart sooooooo I'm going to take this plunge because I freaking loveddddd the first book. Here goes nothing."
