Second reading. I have no memory of the first, which is unusual for me.

In “House of the Sleeping Beauties an elderly man frequents a house near the sea where he sleeps with attractive young unclothed women who’ve been heavily sedated.

In “One Arm a man borrows a girlfriend’s limb for the night and takes it to his room where he tries it on for size; it talks to him and comments on the decor.

In “Of Birds and Bees, an animal fancier, perhaps unintentionally, kills many birds and dogs in pursuit of a kind of lonely oneness with nature.

Sean I normally prefer novels to short stories but these sound unique and cool.

William2 Kawabata’s novels are great. I’d start there, if you haven’t read him. Thanks for your comment.
