This is a book to read, discuss, re-read, and discuss some more. It works on so many levels. As a simple adventure story it would be wonderful. As a modern philosophical work it is also excellent. And then you read the last few chapters, and it, profoundly unsettlingly shifts into an entirely different work. It forces you to ask difficult questions about society and about yourself. Then you have to re-read the whole thing again. And you really want to talk to someone about it. It is a rare book that can do all that.
