I think out of all the historical romances I've read by Meg Cabot, this is probably my favorite. I liked the characters a lot more (I used to think Drake was my favorite, but I like Reilly a lot more!) and I think the character development and progression of the relationship between the two leads was much better written here. I think in general Meg Cabot tends to write her historical romance heroines as very independent and progressive and I think this was really highlighted in Brenna's character, who is 100% devoted to her career and research aspirations. I also really enjoyed the fact that the novel was centered around medicine and public health :).
*Also, this might just be me reading too much into things but I did think there was a very Beatrice (MABN) moment when Brenna had her "If I were a man" outburst in chapter 17!
