“All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

Ah, this harkens me back to my tween days, when I used to read 30+ installments of Erin Hunter’s Warrior Cats series per year. Thank god I didn’t have unfettered access to the internet back then or I may have ended up on some niche forum calling myself “Bramblepaw or something.

Watership Down is a lot more mature and meaningful than Warrior Cats, although I do find it interesting that stories about animals tend to have one thing in common: humans are the enemy.

I enjoyed this very much despite the length (it did drag at times). Can’t wait to try out the animated series adaptation.

Jassmine ...although I do find it interesting that stories about animals tend to have one thing in common: humans are the enemy.

I mean... we are pretty bad 🤭

Jan Nice review, Helen! I tend to agree with the "humans are the enemy" theory for the most part. Sadly there are some horrible humans out there. There are also some awesome humans out there trying to change that fact.

Alexandra Nice review :) I loved this one when I read it as a teen, but haven't reread it since.

Be cunning and full of tricks! Yes I adore that line. My favorite part of the book was the stories/fables

Carmen Helen, I also felt a bit of nostalgia from Warrior Cats! And I wasn’t as lucky as you in terms of not having the internet, I used to make warrior cats edits on instagram and they were absolutely horrendous 🙈
