Witches are living incognito among us (snickers). They´re not like fairy-tale witches of course but every witch has the gift of a certain element (air, fire, earth, water) which defines her or his powers. Jack McAllister is a fire-witch and assigned to watch over Mira Hoskins a young woman who is working as a waitress and desperately trying to get a grip on her life again after her divorce. What she doesn´t know is that she´s a very powerful air-witch, a legacy of her dead parents who didn´t want her to know about her abilities and become a pawn in the power games of two organizations the Coven (the good ones) and Duskoff Cabal (the bad ones). Mira and Jack are instantly drawn to each other fire and air just can´t keep their hands off each other there´s a natural attraction between these two elements. When some men try to kidnap Mira, Jack rescues her at the last minute and hides with her in his apartment. But her attacker already have picked up the trail to get hold of Mira and her powers.
I really liked this book! The concept of every witch having a special affinity to a certain element is new to me I haven´t read something like that until now. The plot was quite exciting and managed to keep me interested till the end. The two main characters were likeable and their romance full of sexual tension the sex scenes hot and explosive you know air is fueling fire…lol! What however spoiled my reading fun a bit was that Mira behaved really childish when finding out about Jack´s secret. Throughout the book she seemed to be a mature person to me so I was a bit confused about this twist in her characterization. And, sorry - the old pattern from Stone Age about girl goes after villain herself because she overestimates the ability to wield her powers and then has to be rescued by boy made me raise my eyebrows. I thought she was a very mighty witch at least this was mentioned throughout the book and then she needs to be rescued?? Well, be that as it may I really enjoyed reading this paranormal romance and will certainly read the next book in this Elemental Witch-series „Witch Blood where Thomas, Mira´s cousin and an earth-witch will play the main part!

BTW, Lilith Saintcrow's old publisher used to be Imajinn. She has two series with them, and still adds more novels to those series every year or so. One is called the Watcher series and is about elmental Witches. You might like it. Lots of romantic tension. But very little or no sex. It is very different from the Dante Valentine series in that the Witches are not alpha-to-the-extreme like Danny. I read 3 of them...Dark Watcher, Storm Watcher, and Fire Watcher. That's the correct order for them. Another was published last year, but I didn't read it. You can find them on Amazon.
