did not like it
bookshelves: romance

An enjoyable experience until 90%, then I had to force myself to get to the end. I really wanted to DNF it.

There is no way such a behaviour can be forgiven, he was beyond assh* material, he destroyed her life and her future. He never thought for a minute about her. And I lost any respect I had for the heroine. She has no brain nor self respect either. So at the end the romance was a great let down. And given that RS are romance, no real mystery(view spoiler), if the romance fails...

All the last 10% of the book was either rant or cringe worthy. And please let us avoid talking about the epilogue.. brrr.

Sorry, I can't recommend this book.

RachelW (BamaGal) I had to laugh at your reaction to the ending. It never bothered me like that, I felt he was just doing his job. It's been over twenty years since I read it, though; so my memory is a bit hazy on the story. Sometimes these old books don't age very well.

My LH ‘throw it at the wall because of the asshole Hero book was always After the Night...

Mara Ok, I'll avoid that! And no, I didn't think he was being a cop, or definitely not a good cop. As the heroine I may understand the reasoning, but the choice wasn't his to make. But again I couldn't stomach the heroine's reaction or lack of it because sex. Bleah. She did the opposite of an intelligent choice: agree, save your life and get the perp, and then kick his ass to the curb.

Mara Plus he really was a bad cop or rather again with 'all' RS the suspense part is often a joke. Here he's not only an ass, he's a stupid ass. He didn't expect her reaction? He didn't think about her job, to involve her employers etc etc.

RachelW (BamaGal) I have a bit of a soft spot for Howard. Not only is she an Alabama author; when she was writing Open Season, she used our local small town library as well as my high school library for her research (h was a small town librarian).

She was in and out for weeks and sent everyone autographed books. That was cool, and she was so nice to everyone.

I wish I remembered more about the book, but I just don't anymore.
