Charlotte May's Reviews > The Iliad
The Iliad

Read as part of my degree and as part of my love of classics, however it didn't compare to The Odyssey which I adored - possibly due to the lack of mythological creatures and rather more battles and lists of ships and names, which made it that much harder to struggle through. Still a great read as one of the original classics but I would choose The Odyssey over the Iliad anytime.

Personally I love The Odyssey - I love Greek mythology which helped, and I found it pretty easy to read. So if you're looking for an Ancient Classic I'd definitely recommend The Odyssey :)
Also Metamorphoses by Ovid is another great one if you want to follow the Greek gods and goddesses and other greek myths :)

When I was a child I read first The Odyssey and I loved it! It gave me a big push to research about Greek legends and myths then I was very excited to read The Illiad but it wasn´t the same and I didn´t know why until I read your review ´cause it´s true in The Odyssey we can read an expansive world of goddess, mythological creatures and magic and The Illiad even though it´s all about heroic deed also about long lists of ships lol
Have you read Epic of Gilgamesh?
I haven´t but I feel curiosity ´cause people say it´s similar to The Odyssey.
