Memoirs of a Geisha

A beautiful, poingnant story that is so incredibly, lyrically captivating you are seduced from the very first word. An absolute work of art, each page overflows with beautiful, sensual, evocative images.
Such is the skill and authority of Golden's writing, I feel as though I have spent hours, being entertained by the most gifted of all Geisha. Utterly Satisfying. I want to read it again for the very first time!

So funny Kathryn, I have never seen the movie but have a very clear picture of The Chairman in my mind. Hmmmmm

It is absolutely that good. In fact I envy you for still having this experience to look forward to.

Everything you say Areli serves to support how great this story is. I love the fact that it appeals to such a wide range of readers, each of who take away their own morsels of delight. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with me.

Pleased to see all those stars Paula. Truly a great work of art. Thank you.

Thank you Elyse. It is easy for me to believe this remained a favourite for your daughter for a long time.

Thanks Carol. I can see those five stars of yours. I agree Golden did an amazing job.

Thanks Carol. I can see those five stars..."
I should have proofread my above note. :) I meant "some"...

Thanks Margitte. You know I have thought many a time about reviewing books I read long before I joined goodreads but somehow I feel better when the experience is still fresh. Of course other reviewers here do it and quite admirably as well.

Thanks Delee. You absolutely should. I predict that you will love it.

Though there are some, I cannot come up with too many examples of the movie outshining the book. Strangers on a Train is one that comes immediately to mind for me.

Can we really be surprised that the two immediate examples happen to be Hitchcock interpretations. I loved Misery both the book and the movie but the book still holds top rank for me. Great examples. Thanks for sharing.

I agree Maryann. It is a safe bet indeed to pass this one on to friends and family. I'm thrilled your family loved it too.

Thank you Cheri for the lovely comments. Oh my, there are so many books, still this one seems worthy of second visit.
