So sue me...I'm a sucker for a celebrity biography, especially one packed with lurid details of drug use and ill-advised sexual escapades. And, I love the Chili Peppers, so this book was irresistible to me. I learned a little about Anthony Kiedis' song-writing process, which was nice. Unfortunately, I also learned that he is a selfish prick with a stunning lack of self-awareness. But, hey, it's only rock-n-roll, right?

Lisa Ikin Wonderland Avenue. A much better read than AK's self absorbed ramblings

Lisa Ikin You were generous! I only gave it 2 stars and didn't finish it !

Chris Carr I found myself thinking this guy was a worthless human being after reading this book.

Bonnie Morse It makes sense if you understand that people stop growing emotionally at the age they get heavily into drugs, so he’s basically 12 years old. Great songwriter, tho.

David Martins I would say it takes a lot of self awareness to write a book including such detailed description of himself and the emotions and feelings he went through in the different situations described in the book

Ella Baroudi exactly what i felt reading the book!

Nehru Tinajero My favorite is Marilyn Manson's book, long hard road out of hell.

K Totally agree. I kept waiting for the part where he redeems himself, but no, he’s really just an arrogant, selfish, manipulative jackass.

Cynthia I recommend Dave Grohl’s ‘The Storyteller. He is a delightful person and gifted storyteller. His book had such a better vibe than this one

Suzanne I picked this up after reading Dave Grohl's 'The Storyteller' of which I had zero expectations - I LOVED it, so I thought this would be something I would like too. OMG. I rarely DNF a book - this is one of them. What a douchebag. He glorified his father, his anti-social behavior, his drug use. I just couldn't get past what an asshole he came off as... I was afraid if I finished I would end up hating the RHCP too.

Taylor I feel like you should rate a book on the writing vs if he was selfish or not

AJ Masters Check out the NOFX book. Even if you're not a fan. It's fascinating
