I listened to the audio version of The Nix. Right now I'm at 4 stars but if the novel sticks with me I might bump it up to 4 1/2. This is a great audiobook but not a perfect book. I know people are comparing this to The Goldfinch, and I get that, but I don't think the writing was as sophisticated as Tartt's book.
It took me two tries with this novel. I will say that if you are going to read or listen to it, make the time for no long stretch stops. That's what I did the first time and I couldn't get back into it.
Ari Fliakos is amazing narrating this. 5+++++ Star Audio! Strongly recommended for those who don't mind books that could use a bit of length tweaking.

Nice review Jennifer! I have been on hold for the audio on this one for *months*. So happy to hear the audio is amazing! Glad you liked this one. Hopefully you can find a shorter book next to get you out of your rut.

Put to rest those doubts about this review, Jennifer; it's great! I've a 100 pages to go and your comment that his writing isn't as sophisticated as Tartt's is spot on for me. I've found the writing a bit nondescript throughout. I've liked it but not since the early scene of the professor secretly playing Elfscape have I loved it.
This was a great review, Jennifer. You got your point across and that's all that matters! I have been debating this book for sometime but have been waiting for a good time to dive into a long one. Happy to see you on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and reading again! :)

Wonderful review, Jennifer, and I'm with you on the comparison to "The Goldfinch" - I don't really get it, either, although it's been a while since I read it. "The Nix" is, overall, a much lighter read than "The Goldfinch" even I wouldn't consider it "light"... it didn't feel as "serious." I'm so glad that you enjoyed this, though!

I am about half way through this book and enjoying it, although some of the sections are beginning to drag. I also read the Goldfinch. That book dragged and gave me a headache every time I read any of it. So far I am much preferring The Nix.
