Listening to this now! I went in having no idea what it is about, but after having just read Jane Eyre I can't help but compare the book to an "After Mr. Rochester"

I also read the biography of Daphne De Maurier and it was excellent.

This is a lovely favorite to have!! It is also on my Favorites shelf - and it is one I want to re-read because it's been quite a while since I last read it - like years and years. :D

Which movie did you see Holly? Or is there only one? I have never seen this on film but it would be fun to check it out after I re-read.

It was by Margaret Forster. I borrowed it from the library after I finished Rebecca and I was forever touched by Manderley!!

The movie is a classic starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. You simply must see it! I have seen it at least 3 times on Masterpiece Theater and they usually feature it over several weeks. All time favorite mystery Jaline!

Thank you so much, Holly! I have found this and added it. Margaret Forster's name is familiar to me somehow although her name isn't on my past reading lists for the last 10 to 15 years. I will check further to see if any bells go off. :) Meantime, I look forward to reading this biography of Daphne du Maurier - from the synopsis it sounds like M.F. wrote it with a lot of integrity.

Thanks again, Holly! Once more this is ringing a bell, too - I know I have seen pretty much every Hitchcock movie ever made, but it could also have been several decades ago :)

Now that you have helped me get my ducks in a row here, my plan is to re-read Rebecca, then watch the Hitchcock movie (I can rent it from iTunes) and then follow all that up with the biography. Thanks for all your help!! :)
