I hadn't had a book infuriate me this much since A Beautiful Dark.

So Wendy Everly finds out she's a changeling switched at birth, and that she's actually one of the Trylle─a.k.a. trolls. She's also a princess.

Every. Single. Character. In this book. Expected her to know everything about Trylle life already. Nobody even educates this girl. Sometimes Finn, the hero, tries to, but then they end up making out or some other annoying romantic activity.

Wendy was so damn unlikable. She was close to being a TSTL heroine. When her mother, Elora, yelled at her about the stupidest things, she just stood there and took it. She needs to learn to stand up for herself. -_-

I would've probably liked her, or at least respected her more, if she would just stop letting that bitchy mother of hers to treat her like fecal matter.

I didn't like the characters, the story, the romance, nothing. But a friend of mine told me that it gets better in the sequel. I do see some potential in this series, I guess.

I'd probably still read the sequel, just to see if it really gets better. I mean, I got a copy of it already. I bought it at the same time I got this one. I guess I just had high hopes for this series. :/

message 3: by M. (new)

M. It doesn't surprise me. I've read My blood approves and I wasn't impressed.

Lisbeth Avery {Domus Libri} I completely agree! Horrible. -__-

Nafiza I have an arc of Waking (Swimming? Whatever, I can't remember the title, only that the cover is blue). Anyway, I read the first paragraph before becoming convinced that I will never ever try one of her books again. :\

Antica I would say the only good thing about Wendy's character is that she didn't pull an Ariel and just leave her family without didn't look back ... I did not like Finn whatsoever; found him to be a complete douche .. the side characters be much more interesting than him
I will probably read the 2nd book; just for the heck of it

Aww no, Wake? D: That one's bad too? Dammit, I was really excited for it. It's about sirens, which I love, and the cover is just damn gorgeous.

Nafiza The first paragraph is such a turn off, I decided not to even go there and retained my sanity instead. Haha.

it was confusing!

Maddy I think it was an easy read and i quite enjoyed it and am shocked to see some one hate on it so much but your friends right it gets pretty interesting in the sequels.
And i think Wendy was easy to like shes some one you could relate to, also her mother does get better and you find shes really not a bitch, and if anything i respected Wendy more for taking all that crap from her Mum, she was just trying to be respectable, but you should defs read the following ones!!
:)

message 12: by Ayla (new) - rated it 1 star

Ayla I agree, this book is pretty horrible. Your status updates made me laugh really hard though. XD

message 13: by Rae (new) - rated it 2 stars

Rae Quigley I've read all three books, and I am surprised that anyone could find this series interesting or even good. I was so disappointed with the whole thing. Loved the review.

Jessie ha ha that pretty much sums it up

Emily I do have to disagree with your point of view. I love this series because of the romantic aspect of it. I do have to say windy is a bitch though I hate her development through out the first and second book and then she ends up with the perfect guy?! NO! It dosent work!!! I hate it!!! But this was one of the first paranormal YA books I read this is actually the first.... And I just love it to pieces for almost showing me this wonderful world of books.

message 16: by Holly (new) - rated it 1 star

Holly Bier 100% agree. Good concept, bad execution. I’m also spoiled by ridiculously good writers like Laini Taylor. I won’t read the Switched sequels.

FloweringDust The books series gets so much better. My favorite book is the 3rd book everything pieces together and she ends up kicking butt!
