Although I was interested in Modiano's quest for the missing Jewish girl, and sympathetic towards his feelings about the occupation and about his father, I really didn't like his writing style. Reading this book was exhausting for me. The story was too slow paced and I was bored throughout.
I know you love Modiano's books David, and I really wanted to like this book too, and agree with you, but that would be a lie. So, consider the quote as an appreciation for the feelings of my friends who loved this book.
