You know, I wish Melina Marchetta would be more considerate of my mind - it's exhausting, having it blown all the time.

Aly (Fantasy4eva) Gotta read this asap! :D

Kat Kennedy Yeah, you do. Everyone needs to read EVERYTHING Marchetta has ever published and I'm not even kidding.

Eve Davids Good to know. I've been putting off her books for a while now, after reading some not so pleasant reviews about her work. But the good seems to outweigh the bad in her case, so I would give this a try.

Don't make him throw tomatoes! He'll do it!

Kat Kennedy Oh no, TheDuchess, you've upset The Tomato!

Seriously, I'm going to go find these bad reviews. It seems inexplicable to me that there could be anything to fault Marchetta on.

Tatiana Bad reviews of her books?! Have never seen one (or, quite possibly, just repressed them).

Kat Kennedy I went searching and found a few. The complaints I saw were:

1) can't keep up with all the characters/lore (I thought, for a fantasy novel, it was character and lore lite!)
2) didn't like Finnikin/Evanjalin
3) are batshit insane

Eve Davids Lol, guys. They are right here on goodreads. I think it might be more of a pet peeve thing for those who give her low scores though. In other words, her characters and narratives are awesome, but perhaps the way she handled an issue didnt go well with them.
I think i read a review of Saving F, where the person went really detailed into how they didnt like how a particular character dealth with her depression.
I'm usually very touchy in regards to how mental health is handled in fiction so that had put me off for a while.
But no longer. She and Ellen Hopkins write books that I really need to get into.

Kat Kennedy Evanjalin was badass to a new extreme. I had the biggest girlcrush on her.
