it was amazing

I thought I knew the history of Israel's annexation of Palestine but this was a totally shocking account! I can't believe Britain reneged so emphatically on its promise to allow the Palestinians independence. The UN also must be ashamed of its duplicitous role.
Ilan Pappe is a Jewish academic who cannot be accused of anti-semitism. He just wants people to know what really happened. Israel is guilty of war crimes aided and abetted by Britain and the UN.
It is particularly important to read this now that Palestine has applied for recgnition as a state at the UN. How can this be denied when the UN allowed Israel without any impediment?
I was absorbed by this book and recommend it to all.

Felix "Israel's annexation of Palestine"? Perhaps you should review your history of the period again. This just doesn't make sense. Ever heard of the 1947-8 war? Of the invasion by 5 Arab states? Nope?

Richard It doesn't seem that you read Pappe's book. He is an Israeli academic who has no reason to distort the facts. Maybe you need to read the book with an open mind.

Felix No, I have not, and I am always looking to further my knowledge on this and other matters.

But! This is really 101-level stuff.

As for Pappe, I would not trust him too far. Benny Morris, a far more eminent historian, has demonstrated how shoddy and problematic his work is:

Adriano “A Jewish state would not have come into being without the uprooting of 700,000 Palestinians. Therefore it was necessary to uproot them. There was no choice but to expel that population. It was necessary to cleanse the hinterland and cleanse the border areas and cleanse the main roads. It was necessary to cleanse the villages from which our convoys and our settlements were fired on - Benny Morris

“Eminent indeed... I certainly won’t take the slightest notice of what Mr Morris has to say on anything.

Richard Well said, Adriano! I've just finished reading In Search of Fatima by Ghada Karmi which tells the story of how the Palestinians were treated by the zionists. It is a story not often heard and shows the real cruelty that was done to them.

Musab Hey Felix. We all heard of these wars but do you know the purpose of them? They were to regain control of occupied land by the Israeli settlers. You cant just steal a land and not expect resistance. And as for Ben Morris I would not take into account to what he has to say since he believes its fine murdering people for land.

Richard You're absolutely right, Musab. Morris is a zionist so hardly an impartial commentator. Shamefully the UN is taking no action to stop the annexation of more Palestinian territory.
