If you've ever wondered which literary world would be the best to live in, wonder no longer, cause there's a to answer that!
The Written Review :
One day, you will be old enough to start reading fairytales again.
It's like C.S. Lewis was speaking to me. I never read these as a child but now that I'm in my mid-twenties, I'm feeling the urge to visit all those childhood classics I never read. And I'm so glad I did.
Peter did not feel very brave; indeed, he felt he was going to be sick. But that made no difference to what he had to do.
Four siblings on a rainy day play hide-and-seek. The youngest discovers an incredible secret in the back of the old wardrobe in their uncle's house. After a fair amount of convincing, she and her three siblings set out to explore and are soon whisked into the land of Narnia.
description
Narnia! It's all in the wardrobe just like I told you!

Could you imagine a more magical world? I've watched the movie as a kid but reading the book? It's 110% better. The amazing characters - from Mr. Tumnus to the White Queen - just tie this story together. Unforgettable.

Read by Michael York and this was a pleasure to listen to. I felt like a little kid being read to!

AJ I wish Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ would find a way to link books of the series with sets when you're comparing books... I've read the boxed set, but this one is my favorite (probably because of the ). -- Don't laugh!

Miranda Reads They look...interesting :P

Jonathan Donihue This book is what started my love affair with logic. when the professor was explaining to the older children why they should believe Lucy. "What do they teach children in school these days?" Brilliant!

Diane Wallace Wonderful review, Miranda!

Julia Ash I loved the movies, so if the book is 110% better, then I'm adding them to my reading wish-list! Thanks, Miranda :)

I really wish I would've read them sooner. The series is a bit dated and can get a bit heavy handed but it was def fun!

Olivia's Bookish Places & Spaces I absoultely adore CS Lewis. Glad you liked this. Are you planning to read the rest of the series? :)

Miranda Reads Olivia wrote: "I absoultely adore CS Lewis. Glad you liked this. Are you planning to read the rest of the series? :)"

Oh, most definitely :D

I just bought the entire series on Audiobook from amazon - it was only $30! So, I am definitely going to work my way through this one :D

Totally agree, quite some time ago I bought a set of all the books and I finished all of them within a few days. I started with the Magician's Nephew and it was magical from the very first page! :)

Oooo....That's where I'm torn. Do I go in order of release or chronological order. Choices, choices :)

Caffeinated Book Dragon (Morgan) My 5th grade teacher read this book aloud to us and I LOVED it. She gave each character their own voice and was very enthusiastic while reading. Then, we went to see the movie for a school field trip. And I'm pretty sure this is the book that sparked my love for fantasy, especially ones that take you to a magical place!

Oh that must've been such a wonderful experience! I used to love being read aloud to (I guess I still do...considering I listen to audiobooks all the time!)

' You cant not love any of C S Lewis books they are all AMAZING!!!!

message 24: by Joey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Joey Landis C.S. Lewis definitely did a great job in developing the characters. He used indirect characterization to help the readers understand the feelings and thoughts of the characters. I really enjoyed the magical parts of the story, as did you. Mr. Tumnus was by far my favorite character. He knowingly put his life in jeopardy to save Lucy¡¯s life, which is a very heroic act. Mr. Tumnus was a very creative character that was created by C.S. Lewis. The author is undoubtedly imaginative, especially when it comes to his fiction world and characters. Narnia was stuck in the winter season for most of the story and was filled with talking animals and mythical creatures. I also thought the White Witch was an amazing character. She seemed nice at first, but as the plot developed she showed her true colors. She showed that she was a horrible person with terrible plans for Narnia. Even though she was the antagonist, she was still a complex character that added a lot of meaning to the plot of the story. I really enjoyed this book and gave it five stars. Great review!

Faith Yes..... completely unforgettable...
How I adore both the Narnia books and movies! I am almost in Heaven when I read or watch those beautiful Chronicles.
I so look forward to seeing C. S. Lewis in Heaven. Truly, as he said, "We were created for another World....."

Tucker Almengor Did you know that this is an allegory for the entire Bible... I didn't. When I was a kid, that whole thing just went straight over my head. In all seriousness, this was one of the first books series that I ever loved. I think I read it (visually) when I was 6 but I listened to it on CD (remember those?) when I was 4... Focus on the Family did a fully casted, sound effected, recording of the entire series which was... phenomenal

Faith Yes, Tucker, I actually did!
Ah, I don't remember those- I have only read the books and watched the new movies.
Wow. I need to listen to the Focus on the Family series.
That sounds wonderful......?

Steven Wilson can you give me a shout out

message 34: by Steven (new)

Steven Wilson soooooo what is this bok about

Hayden This is one of my favourite books! Even if you took out the biblical allegories, it¡¯s still a damn good story! Just the idea of being able to go to a different world from a mere wardrobe is a child¡¯s dream. Plus the imagination behind the world is beautiful. So glad you liked it!

Miss Murder Ahhh I¡¯m still awaiting my Narnia book 1 to get off hold on my eLibrary. I never read the books but I loooved the movies as a kid!

message 37: by Mark (new)
