Holy heckfire.
The strongest of the three, in my humble opinion. Were there issues? Yes. But my enjoyment of the book overall overrides its faults.
In short, I thought ACOWAR moved about fifteen times faster than ACOMAF (weirdly, many people seem to disagree.) I read this in a month, while ACOMAF took me two months (so my math is definitely off, sue me). I was hooked from the very first page.
The characters are brilliant; I was concerned that Maas wouldn't be able to make them individual enough, but she certainly did. Everyone had a unique story, personality, and place in my heart (d'aww, shucks). The only characters I am still on the fence about are Miriyam and Drakon. But perhaps a reread will sort that out.
Yeah, there's weird stuff. The writing is nauseatingly repetitive. And for fuck's sake WHAT IS WITH THE VULGAR GESTURE. It's sooo weird. There was a point in the middle of the book where Feyre made a vulgar gesture six times in a matter of a few chapters. The sassiness got a bit carried away and I would have preferred a more clever sense of humor, but you write what you know and obviously vulgar gestures and snarky remarks are Sarah's jam.
The diversity has obviously been a hot topic, and honestly, I think she did really well. She heard the complaints and yes, she hastily crammed it all into one book, but she TRIED. She cares. Again, people write what they know. Let me give you an example - the twins. Hybern's niece and nephew. I'm forgetting their names right now, but from reading reviews I've learned that people were upset that Sarah appeared to be speaking negatively about their asexuality. That shit went COMPLETELY over my head when I was reading it. It didn't even occur to me that they might identify as such. I have no experience with asexuality. There is no one in my life that identifies as asexual, and admittedly, I don't think about it. Personally I thought even Sarah didn't know what they were, and that from writing from Feyre's point of view, she was speculating that it might be incest (the comment about the unholy behaviour or whatever), but I don't think she even realised what it might mean to some of her readers. Sarah can't know everything, unfortunately, but she's obviously listening to and learning from her readers! So for that I applaud her. And I think it's important that people continue to be critical, but remember that sometimes it's about being unaware, rather than purposely attempting to be unkind. So by all means, teach; spread your knowledge and experience! But don't be hateful and hurtful.
At this point I have nothing else to add. It's all been said a million times over. I am so blown away by how much I've come to love this world and these characters. I cannot wait to read more.

"Good God, Feyre has made a "vulgar hand gesture" three times in the last couple of chapters. This isn't the 90s, Sarah J - I can't even remember the last time I gave someone the finger. Can we think up a different reaction please? Or like let's just cut down on the sassiness in general. It's like everyone is either sassy, snarling or "wreathed in shadows" 24/7. UGH.
But I still fucking love this book."
