So far I've been a bit disappointed with this book. Too much swooney romance & not enough magic, action & alchemy! And for a heroine who seems to constantly say (and be told) how independent, strong & resourceful she is, she certainly lies down, stays where she's told, and leaves everything up to the big strong man too much. Hurrumph. In the words of a friend after discussing the book "Methinks thou doest protest too much"!

Jennifer Which similar genre book would you recommend over this one? Thanks!

Elzibub I'm listening to The Native Star by M.K. Hobson right now. Alt history steampunk story with magic users. 25% through - really good so far. Let me know if you want other recommendations & I'll dig up some more. :)

Jennifer Cool, thanks !

Elzibub The Magic Bites series by Ilona Andrews is really good as well. More of a magical ass-kicker, but a lot of fun & strong female lead. Pretty sexy stuff farther along in the series, too. ;)

Sarah I agree with your review. I couldn't even finish the book. she was such a doormat and the romance was poorly written to boot.
