My heart is broken.
My brain is broken.
At first, I thought that this book was alright but the last hundred pages BLEW MY MIND.
(Damn you Khalid, for being so hot)
To be honest, Shahrzad was sort of a hot-headed, stubborn brat in my opinion at first XD
Which, in some cases, this description really suits her throughout the story...
I mean..
1) She tried climbing a wall just to prove that she could. Just....wha?
2) She kept repeating how she hated Khalid, which yes, I can understand but if said every 2 sentences, THEN NO.
3) IDFK JUST HER ARROGANT ATTITUDE IN THE BEGINNING.
Alright, enough with the trash talk...let's get on with the good stuff :)
First of all, can we acknowledge how brilliant Shazi is at telling stories?! I mean, she told stories inside of a story...HOW CRAZY IS THAT??
Second: THE CHARACTERS.
People, I honestly couldn't decide between Tariq and Khalid at first, so I was just waiting for one of them to step up and become an obnoxious, overprotective pig.
haha...oh the fun times....
And DESPINA. Another girl to add to my long list of "I wish these characters could become my besties in real life"
I know y'all can relate.
And who can best Jalal?! Honestly, in the first few chapters, where I was annoyed out of my mind, THIS GUY CAME THROUGH FOR ME.

THANK YOU.
All together...one big happy family. :D
(i think that little baby on the right should totally be Jalal ;)
The plot was splendid..but I felt like it was too far into the book when Shazi finally knew what was behind Khalid's acts of murder. Idk...was that just me?
Overall, the book was amazing.
The emotions..the angst...the feelz....KHALID AND SHAZI ALONE..
i need a moment as i scream into my pillow....
Credits to Ahdieh for basing this story on a very different and wonderful culture!

I keep wondering how you people pronounce Khalid’s name and how your reaction would be when you hear the right pronunciation. If, that is, you already know of the right pronunciation. 😂
@Zain- omg I just watched a video on how to pronounce his name and wow....okay I did not pronounce his name like that before XD

@Amber There is no letter in English to pronounce the first syllable of his name. You better look it up instead 👌🏼😂
No, if I had to spell the pronunciation in English it would be closer to how its actually spelled. Actually "lid" at the end rather than "leed".
Haha these comments are so cute!! Okay well to all of you: I believe it’s close to what amber said but put more emphasis on the ‘leed� part...like the ‘kah� is very subtle..and yeah you could say it’s more like ‘lid� but idek honestly XDAll in all, you guys are all correct in a way! XP
The kah isn't even Kah, it's an Arabic letter: خ. It's closer to lid. It's my uncle's name and my first language is Arabic. At work, the Americanized version that my uncles colleagues call him is kah-leed, but that's because it's kind of hard to pronounce (unless you speak Hebrew because they have a closer letter to that).
Nope Jeff. XD It’s definitely “lid� and you have to search for an Arabic pronunciation to properly hear the “Kha�. 😂

This book has been sitting on my physical TBR for 2 years. Every time I read a review like this I'm like "YAAAS! Must read!!" and then I never do. ONE DAY.
