This is a very well written book. It is thought provoking, intelligent and intriguing as would be expected of a book shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. Sadly though much of it went over my head and as a result I was unable to appreciate it as much as many other people do.

Many of the characters like Lux and Sophia were interesting but they were not fully formed. The author floated a fact here and a bit of history there and I was never satisfied with the amount of information I got. Plus things like the floating head and coastline happened without sufficient data. I needed a cause or a reason instead of which they both just continued until they floated right out of the story.

I guess I mostly enjoyed the book but I finished it feeling dissatisfied. Perhaps I was just not the right audience.

Phrynne Looking forward to your opinion on it:)

Chrissie I jut picked this up too. What will I think?

How do both of you compare it to the first book, better or worse?

Phrynne I haven’t read the first book Chrissie so can’t help you:)

Alex Cantone Guess I'll give this one a miss then.

Phrynne Lol! Don’t go just on my opinion. Lots of people love it to death!

Paul Lockman Nice review Phyrnne, I had similar feelings when I read Autumn earlier this year, so I will probably give this one a miss.

Phrynne I was considering whether to read Autumn - perhaps I won't:)

Tony I agree with your opinion 100%. I have just finished reading Winter and I'm still trying to figure out the meaning of the floating head and the costline.
