yr window review has me rolling down the aisle!

Kathy, I'm just saying I had a different reading experience. BUT, I've read Cornell Woolrich's "Rear Window" (1942-a man in a wheelchair can do nothing but stare out a window at the neighbors and sees a wife disappear-90% of the story appears here in "The Woman in the Window") and I've seen Hitchcock's 1950s film version countless times (it's a classic!) and I've read Agatha Christie's "What Mrs. McGilligutty Saw" (an older woman, hence no one believes her) sees a murder through the window of a passing train, of which 90% appeared in "Girl on a Train". Between those two books, and the movie, the story feels part of my very being and thus I refer to them as the good versions. (Yes, true, I am probably much older than you so my approach to the novel was an entirely different experience.) No matter what, we can't help compare books we read with past stories we have encountered. Relativity strikes again!

Yes, Raymond Burr! Not to mention Grace Kelly! By the way, the original by Cornell Woolrich is novella length, short and to the point. Woolrich hides the body in a different place than in the Hitchcock film, though, that's about the only difference.

Latanya, it's one of those books than can indeed be read in one sitting!

Nancy, I see you rated the book 2 stars. I gave it one star. But, yes, there is quite a lot of movie references in the book. I suppose that was my main issue with the book: I was so familiar with so many of the story elements.
