it was amazing
bookshelves: books-of-antiquity, philosophy

Seneca you wastrel! To teach of stoicism while living in such opulence. Eh-gads! Fabulous writing, I think I blushed unbeckoned during the blushing scene, and stop trying to get us all to give up oysters, they are both erotic and have the potential to profit a pearl or two. Unacceptable I say!

Also very forward thinking in regards to slavery I must say.

Donald Plugge Wastrel! Vastus! Humm...what would Seneca think of that? As for opulence, he didn't even have a flat screen or iPod or smart phone. But a wonderfully, witty review, I must say. Thanks.

Cassandra Kay Silva Still he wasn't exactly living Socrates life in a barrel so ? Opulent it is!

Robert Lent Stoicism never taught that people should live an ascetic lifestyle, that was the Cynics.

Cassandra Kay Silva Read this book. He remarks heavily on ascetics whether or not that is the topic of stoicism it is a topic covered in this work.
