RAISE YOUR HAND IF

you would rather read about Mor accepting herself entirely and unconditionally and growing comfortable in her sexuality; Nesta finding her way towards healing and self love and getting her revenge on the queens; Elain focusing on her personal growth and learning to healthily cope with being Fae and slowly getting used to her new found abilities.........instead of yet another uninspired, drab, unnecessary smut scene between Feyre and Rhysand

Vanessa Okay, my own opinions about her books aside, SJM at this point is one of those famous/popular YA authors... so why the heck do her bookcovers keep being so underwhelming? I mean, this is one of the prettier ones if you only look to the left, but once you get a glimpse of the hand it's just "Yikes!".
Just look at Cassie Clare's covers for comparison. HOW?
(Also side eyeing everyone who has already rated it. Jfc people.)

lmaoo compared to the other it's definitely somewhat better but yea they're all pretty underwhelming (i guess so the covers would match the content lmao???) I've zoomed in now that you've mentioned it and yea i see what u mean, also the tattoes are showing from under the sleeves?? um what

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

the best and most unsurprising thing that can happen in this sequel is Feyre finding yet another love interest and comparing him to Rhys

✿ Z A H R A ❀ (Booksandepiphanies) omg u forgot azriel !!!! XD yepp me dis is whyy i was disappointed by acowar...

Elizabeth I only want to hear about Azriel tbh.

Christy At least the original trilogy were quick enjoyable reads (if not very substantial or too thoroughly thought out), but they had the benefit of novelty. I really hope this novella won't just be more fan service and the synopsis hinting at the shadows of those around Feyre would actually deal with some of the more complex issues Elain and Nesta and Mor etc. are still struggling with. :/

message 25: by emma (new)

emma lmao I don't even want her to try to write queer characters anymore.....considering how acowar went that would be a fucking trainwreck

Christy Emma wrote: "lmao I don't even want her to try to write queer characters anymore.....considering how acowar went that would be a fucking trainwreck"

I don’t know whether to be like oh at least she tried (after that embarrassing lack of diversity in all senses of the word in ACOTAR) or just stuck in a perpetual eye roll at the... was it the Dawn High Lord?

message 30: by Stella (new)

Stella and finally telling the peeps that Rhys ain't no "feminist icon" because just no. I hope Sarah ups her game real fast.

message 31: by emma (new)

emma @Christy tbh I've blocked most of my memories of that book, but making the fact that one of your characters is biracial and another is bisexual both plot twists to add diversity at the end of a series? not a good look

Elizabeth Emma wrote: "lmao I don't even want her to try to write queer characters anymore.....considering how acowar went that would be a fucking trainwreck"

I mean... you write what you know. I imagine it's difficult if you can't really speak from experience but people are also demanding diversity from you...

message 33: by emma (new)

emma @Elizabeth framing the discussion on diversity in a way that portrays it as something being "demanded" is actually inaccurate and sort of vilifies marginalized people who just wish they could see themselves represented in more books. There were a lot of glaring issues with queer rep in ACOWAR specifically that could have easily been resolved by hiring sensitivity readers

Nassy As long as Lucien finds happiness! I'm good

message 35: by emma (new)

emma I don't expect her to write these characters perfectly, but I don't see how her massive advances couldn't allow for paying a handful of queer people to advise her on how to represent them respectfully

message 36: by may (new)

may ➹ i haven't even read this series but ✋✋

Elizabeth Emma wrote: "@Elizabeth framing the discussion on diversity in a way that portrays it as something being "demanded" is actually inaccurate and sort of vilifies marginalized people who just wish they could see t..."

Oh gosh. Sorry, that was the wrong word. You're right! I suppose sensitivity readers would have done the trick. I just saw a lot of pretty nasty reviews, though I totally agree that it seemed very hastily thrown together and forced. Just a bit clumsy on her part. Hopefully she'll use the criticism constructively in the future.

message 38: by SCHY (new) - added it

SCHY Nesta is literally my favorite character and I enjoy overall character more than I enjoy Feyres. *insert cry face* I am PATIENTLY waiting for a book strictly with Nesta and her story and her thoughts and feelings.

océane (desbouquinsdanslamain) Oh nooooo, not again. As much as I love Rhysand, I wanted to read about Mor or Azriel

message 40: by emma (new)

emma @Elizabeth I hope so as well! :)

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) I want Azriel to find his happiness.

Regina Yes! Yes. I’m already cringing at the future sex scenes dammit

☆★Tinja★✮ A Court of Pizza and Laziness The sex scenes in ACOWAR just made me cringe??
ACOTAR & ACOMAF were beyond amazing but ACOWAR was a huge disappointment.

Andrea 😑🤛

ℓуηη_σƒνєℳűяιѕ My exact feelings @Tinja. I was hugely disappointed with ACOWAR. And I'd been so excited after the amazeballs ACOMAF =/ So I'll read this novella, but I'm certainly not getting my hopes up for anything spectacular
