New Moon (The Twilight Saga, #2)
by
And yet....I still loved it
So, I guess I'm cringing at my older self too.
While she manages to make it out alive, Edward is horrified by what his family has the potential to do. (How is this a surprise?) (They're bloody vampires.)
Edward does the sensible thing and completely erases himself from her life. Bella does the sensible thing and completely erases her mind.
She throws herself into this weird fugue state for the first few chapters.
Seriously, their relationship is so messed up when I think about it. 100 year old man, 18 year old girl. I mean technically it isn't statuary but give Edward a few wrinkles and a stooped walk...and this book would be giving off a whole different vibe.
Looking back now, I don't understand how I was Team Edward for this book. Poor Jacob did all that work with healing Bella only to get thrown aside as soon as a little sparkle dances her way.
I remember my sixteen year old self absolutely crying when Bella goes into the fugue state after Edward leaves and bawling again when he came back. I kept thinking, "This is TRUE love."
Woah, Nelly. At least I don't feel the same now...right?

The girl voices (done by Ilyana Kadushin) were alright but her version of male voices were rather terrible. Picture a girl with the scratchy-cold voice. That's every guy in the book. Sigh.

Anyway, onwards to the review!
Ohhh yeah, I made a all about my scandalously unpopular twilight opinions (check out the video to see it...if you dare.)
Really cringing at my younger self..
Forbidden to remember, terrified to forget; it was a hard line to walk.
And yet....I still loved it
So, I guess I'm cringing at my older self too.
Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason. ...And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fireWhen Bella gets a paper cut during her birthday, she (in typical ridiculously unstable fashion) slices her arm open and stuffs it with glass. She becomes surrounded by seven thirsty vampires.
While she manages to make it out alive, Edward is horrified by what his family has the potential to do. (How is this a surprise?) (They're bloody vampires.)

I honestly have no idea how to live without you.Codependency for the win.

Lol... you should've seen me ten years ago, righteously defending the soulmates. Oh, past-Miranda....

Yes! Every few years, i like to reread and see how my opinions change. You definitely had more sense than me with being Team Jacob always :)

Glad you still love, Fabulous Review, Miranda 😄"
I would completely understand. I would've expected nothing less :p

The love wasn't ruined for me....but it certainly wasn't as all-consuming as it was the first time round :P

I didnt mean to fall in love with damon salvator

If I am totally honest - I enjoy the series. I've read it multiple times and even now, I still have a good time reading it. However, many people who start reading the series later in life tend to react more negatively to the cliches and the writing of the series.

Passed it on to the next girl in line in my class and she bawled in History the next day.
I think the Twilight series is the essence of my teenage emotions and I can still experience them when I reread these books. And I know exactly what my emotions were during each of those books 10 years later. . .

I first read this in my late 20s (I wanted to see what the fuss was about, and since my boss had them at the security podium where I worked I thought why not) and had just come out of a 12 year long abusive, codependent relationship with a person who was later revealed to be clinically insane...so for obvious reasons the relationship in this series did NOT work for me.
Biggest shudder moment; I'd gotten midway through the book and had started to seriously side-eye Edward for his behavior. A younger female co-worker walked past and noticed what I was reading. The conversation:
Her: "You're reading Twilight?"
Me: "Uh-huh."
Her: (Dreamy smile) "It's soooooo romantic, isn't it?"
Me: (stares blankly, screams "WTAF!!" inside own skull)
She walked off before I could frame a reply. Considering my situation at the time, it really creeped my ass out.

Oh my gosh yes. You summed up high school to a T! Loved reading your comment :)

Whew. I can definitely see that take on the relationship. If there's one thing i learned about on twilight is that it does not age well!

Thank you. I completly agree with everything you wrote!

Glad I'm not the only one!

That said......
I was in my 40's and still reading YA when this came out.
I will not apologize for loving the series so much I temporarily stole my nieces hardback copies.
She had the entire set & this was so popular it was hard to get them from the library.
Will I reread them? No.
Did I eat them like candy at the time they were published?
Yes.
I read them before I joined GR and just realized they aren't on my shelf.

Wow.
Perfectly expressed.
As a child I ate up 'The Happy Hollisters'.
While I won't reread them as an adult, I will not disrespect the child I was and disown them, lol. They were great for The Me at that time.
Same with the Twilight series.
The Me at that time enjoyed them. Heck, I even watched every show in the series on T.V.!
I was team Jacob also.

I'm glad you love the book so much! Totally agree about the shrink thing!

I really did!
She hadn't even cracked one of them opened.
I carefully read them all and returned them.
She never knew.
Her mother, my sis-n-law was my co-conspirator....Wha ha ha!

Oh that is too funny :)

I feel like that's how a lot of the readers get into the book :p

Omg. Totally! I couldn't help it :p

So glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for that comment :)

Maybe it will come back around :P
