“Words, I think, are such unpredictable creatures.
No gun, no sword, no army or king will ever be more powerful than a sentence.
Swords may cut and kill, but words will stab and stay, burying themselves in our bones to become corpses we carry into the future, all the time digging and falling to rip their skeletons from our flesh.

Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stories end when you’re shot in the heart.
It’s over.
There’s no story left to be told.
Except the person is not dead. And now she finally found her rage, her bravery, her power.
There’s nothing to stop her to kill the one responsible.
There’s nothing to stop her going to war.
But she doesn’t need to do it alone.
There are friends, a self selected family.
There is a soldier who’s heart is in her hands.
There is power to be controlled and people to be killed. And Juliette is ready.
This book is my favorite book of the whole series (but I haven’t read “restore me it’s coming out in a few days - so, who knows?).
There is action, there is loss and there are so many emotions. I laughed, I cried and I smiled like a crazy maniac.
Never stop at the first book, because the third one is the absolute best - a wonderful way to write a finale.

Characters ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Juliette changed, she’s not the whiny, scared girl anymore. She is ready to fight, ready to give up her own life for the right cause.
She trains to control her powers, to fight and she becomes braver every day.
And with that the walls in her heart are being destroyed one by one until finally she can admit her own feelings and doubts.
She’s not afraid to be herself anymore.
I loved that about her. I was a little bit annoyed when she was useless, lonely and sad all the time. She was crying so much, but then she finally had the character development we all needed (and wanted) from her.
She finally became a strong powerful female leader. I loved it!
“I am not longer afraid of fear, and I will not let it rule me.
Fear will learn to fear me.

Warner - first of all - calling someone “love will forever be the death of me.
It’s like my favorite thing ever.
Every time he said “love my heart jumped and I smiled dumbly.
And that’s just the first thing about him.
He is also the best partner and best love interest anyone could dream of. He has his flaws and issues, but nevertheless he is so supportive, so filled with love and concern for this special person. He’s caring, full of love and makes my heart jump every time he smiles. He never doubted her or her powers. He never saw her as a weak girl. He wanted her to use the powers that were given to her. He wanted her to fight, to be strong, to be her true self - A true leader.
He was a fascinating and powerful character and I love him so so much ♥️

Adam - well, I won’t say anything, because it will spoiler everything. But I can say that everyone changes being surrounded with war, stress and loss. He’s not the nice boy he was in the first book. He grew, he showed more and more of his character. And maybe I was mad at him for being like this, but he still was the boy who showed Juliette kindness, when no one did. He cared for her, tried to save her. Tried to be everything for her.
He is a nice guy, I never doubted that.
He’s just not the right guy.

Relationships ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh, my heart ♥️
Finally, finally I get what I craved from the moment I started the first book.
I got a happy, strong female character with a love interest that knows that she’s in no need of a hero. She needs someone who supports her, someone she can trust with her life, someone who’s caring and strong, but would never think about Juliette as a weak girl who needs saving.
And finally she found her way to him.
My heart was so happy all the time, I can’t even describe it.
After reading this book I was so satisfied with the whole story. (Even though I wanted more! - thank god we get another book!)
I was smiling the whole time reading this.
I love those two so much together ♥️
This relationship, this friendship is everything I wish for myself.
“It’s the kind of kiss that inspires stars to climb into the sky and light up the world.

Did you ever read about a character that you loved from the start? A character you wished would be your best friend?
Yeah, that’s Kenji.
Do you want a sassy friend who makes you laugh? Check
Do you want someone who you can talk to no matter what? Check
Someone who supports you even though you could kill him with your touch? Check
Who hugs you and trains you and is just the best friend ever? Check
“Hey, um, sorry to bother you, but I’m looking for a friend of mine. Have you seen her? She’s a tiny little thing, cries a lot, spends too much time with her feelings...
“Shut up, Kenji.

GIVE ME A BEST FRIEND LIKE KENJI!
😍😍😍😍

Writing style ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh Tahereh Mafi, you talented mastermind. You were my author role model from the moment I read the first page of your book.
The writing is just so beautiful. It’s poetic and filled with metaphors from the beginning.
But the more you read the more you get to know that the writing changes.
Because the writing shows you the character change - the development of Juliette’s character. It was beautiful, it was awesome and it was the best thing ever.
I’m so glad I found this series and started it.

And I’M SO EXCITED FOR RESTORE ME 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Callie (BeverageandBook) This is perfect!

Sabrina ²Ա❤️🙌

Virginia Ronan ♥ Herondale ♥ Warner is my no.1 book bf! xD Well he and Will Herondale share the first place. *lol* <3

Jani I need to reread this series! Hopefully before the new book comes out. I need more Kenji

GraceDarcy SPOILER and really bad english:
I guess it's an unpopular opinion, but I'll never stop hating this book. Imo it's by far the worst book I ever read in my entire life. I really don't get the hype, because the whole book is just about her feelings..not in a cute way full of romantical moments, but like "I talk with Warner. Or Adam. Or Warner and Adam. Or I talk with Kenji about Warner." It's like thats the entire plot. The whole dystopian-plot happens on the last 30 pages basically. And I can't stand the ending either...it's like she just walks in and kills the badguy without any effort and without any suspense. And my maior question: WHY? Imo he wasn't a badguy at all...he imprisons her because she's a fucking murdering weapon. Besides he saves the surviving people. Btw. Juliet killed him but she hasn't any solutions for the worlds problems...there is no food, the world is destroyed, she has no connections, no money, no tactics, not even a finished education. I don't get why the other guys follow her...in reallife nobody would. In reallife the next officer or mayor would be the new boss...not the stupid little girl, which killed the old boss. I really hate it when a book wants to be a dystopie but the author don't care about logic or politics or military stuff et..ahhh :D Sry for the hate, but I really really don't get the hype, so pls tell me what you love about this stuff...

Spoiler tags exist, you know ;P I guess everyone's entitled to have their own opinion but what would be the point if all your main characters had money and a college degree??? Contemporary focuses on those things, maybe but that is so not the point in a dystopian novel, sorry xD Dystopians are MAINLY about teens who are forced to make hard decisions, were treated badly in their lives and usually team up with other teens their age to form an alliance. THAT is the content of most dystopians: A group of teens rebelling against the government. Same with Shatter Me. The romance thing, too. This series is about Juliette coming to terms with her inner demons and that, usually, includes ones own feelings regarding other people as well.

Ah sry I wasn't aware of this, in the future I will use thid function! Most of the time I comment from my mobile phone and I dont know where these spoulerbutton is yet.
But I have to say I strongly disagree. I talked about the money and the degree, because this id how things work in reallife and I prefer it, when dystopian novels are realistic. But thats nit the main point. I agree with your point..the character development is important and I love to read about it BUT there have to be another plot besides this. A plot, which explains why the characters develop...when I think about other good dystopies like hunger games, divergent, legend, red rising, red queen... There is always a plot, which explain the world, the characterdevelopment, the necessarity to change the system...the heroins dont run into the capital, kill the bigboss and everything is fine. I miss such a plot in shatter me. All these great dystopian things, the alliances, the decisions, capturing cities, free people, find alliances, plan the revolution...I thing the main problem why I cant enjoy Juliettes character develoment, or Adams or Warners is that I dont buy it. People dont change by sitting around, dating each other and thing about their feelings (maybe in contempory XD), they change by fights and hard decisions. I just dont buy Juliette transformation, because there is no reason for it.

But btw I love discussing about books and Im happy for you because you obviosly liked it :)

Haha it's fine xD People are super sensitive about spoilers on this site though so make sure to tag them next time. Again I personally think that dystopian (or any fictional book for that matter) was created not for the purpose of being realistic but for the characters to grow and find themselves.
Totally get what you mean but we obviously have different opinions regarding these books. And that's fine ;) The world would be so boring otherwise.

Sarah bless warner honestly. glad you liked the book!
