The Duke Who Knew Too Much (Heart of Enquiry, #1)
by
by

This story contained love, sex and mystery. The
story dragged in places.
Widowed Alaric (a duke) & Emma were the MCs. He
insisted on control in/ out of the bedroom, at times
bordering on obnoxiousness. He avoided innocent
women like Emma.
To a large degree the hero lived in the past, & scorned
the 2 deceased men who raised him. Hero & his half-
brother Will barely tolerated each other. He dreaded
vulnerability and love due to his insincere & faithless
1st wife. The hero compared all women to her.
Alaric came across as too cynical and brooding for my
taste. He & Emma made progress in their relationship
and then he'd shift geers and act chilly toward her. I
wanted the broody hero to take himself elsewhere and
work on a suitable grovel for his beloved. Poor Emma
never got a good grovel!
