it was amazing
bookshelves: my-5-stars, my-top-20-subject-to-change

This book has been sitting on my shelves since its release.
I finally had the pleasure of reading this wonderful work. As I always say, it’s never too late to start a book.
What a great read this was. I was taken by surprise.
It’s outstanding!
A wonderful take on the “Iliad.
The reconstruction of a great story through the eyes of one single character was brilliant.
I was totally mesmerized by the author’s writing skills. It was absolutely magical!
I savoured every sentence.
I really did not know what to expect, but for sure I wasn’t thinking of a romance. Especially not between Achilles and Patroclus. To be 16 again! All that lust, longing, love, admiration...
I’m speechless!
I just can’t say enough about this book.
My first 5 stars rating of 2020!

Peter I loved this book as well, Nilton. Great review. :):)

NILTON TEIXEIRA Thanks Peter!

Mae ❀ Paper Rêveries Glad you enjoyed it! I know it will be one of my top books for 2020. :)

Hayley Looking forward to reading this. I need to read the Iliad first then read this later in the year. I just finished The Odyssey which was a tale of epic proportions.

NILTON TEIXEIRA Daisy Mae & Hayley, this was my second book by this author. I recently read Circe, but that one did not impress me like this one. I hope that you will enjoy this one. It was a wonderful surprise.

Mae ❀ Paper Rêveries I loved both! The general concensus seems to be SoA over Circe, but I must say I think I enjoyed the latter more because of its female perspective. There was more relatability with Circe. That being said, both beautiful tales marvellously spun.

Hayley I’ve read Circe and it was reasonable but not as great as I was expecting.

Tinichix (nicole) *I’m glad this one was one that worked out so well for you.

Deborah Splendid review. I read Circe and enjoyed her writing. However, like a prior reader, I want to read the Iliad first.

NILTON TEIXEIRA Thanks Deborah!

NILTON TEIXEIRA This book is back in The New York Times, listed as one of the 15 best sellers. I did not notice a reprint but I did notice brand new editions translated into different languages.
