A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3.5)

Why was this a thing again? No really. There was no plot whatsoever, they were celebrating Christmas Solstice throughout the book and it was boring. The thing is that I get the novella/bridge novel thing but why make it so short and useless? The teaser for the next book had FAR better stuff in it than the whole book.
WARNING : MINOR SPOILERS BECAUSE MY SPOILER TAG IS NOT WORKING.
Anyways... to the important stuff now.
POV (in descending order of preference)
Cassian : He is bae. I think giving him a POV actually made him a much better character. And the thing he has going with Nesta is super adorbs. Nesta is perhaps my favourite character in this series.
Morrigan : Why was her POV needed? But it was okay. Anything Feyre and Rhysand is fine with me.
Feyre : Blah.
Rhysand : I hate this character. I hate the pedestal he is put on. I hate the entitlement he thinks he has over every living being on earth. I cannot tolerate him. Sorry Rhysand lovers.
Genuinely good things I liked :
The writing has got better, even with the smut stuff. Much more tolerable now.
I liked it every time when Nesta shut Feyre. Feyre and Rhysand are treated like Gods who deserve nothing praise. Even if they act in stupid and selfish manners. Anyone who shows them even a bit of reality will always be loved by me.
Terrible terrible stuff :

The whole "OOOOOOOHHHH war hurt us so bad" butthen going on to BUY A WHOLE ESTATE
The whole thing with Tamlin (I don't think SJM knows what to do with him).
The whole Azriel-Elain-Lucian thing

I don't know. I personally did not enjoy it but SJM books are always a yes for me. Because some characters *ahem* Nesta, Cassian, Amren, Lucian *ahem* force me to come back.

"Okay...... Feyre's "my mate" will literally give me PTSD and I hate to think/say/imagine the name Rhysand. But Nesta is bae. Lucien too. Also.. Amren (shut the fuck up she is asexual). Most importantly.... I cannot wait to shit all over this book.

"So quick update.... the word "mate" has been used 68 times in the book (atleast in the edition i am reading) ..... So it roughly occurs once in every 3 pages. My thoughts EXACTLY. It was like those books that describe every dress the character ever wears IN DETAIL. Like, I don’t caaaaaaaare.

Everyone loves this book. I, for once, have better things to read than Feyre and Rhysand doing to against a wall.

I have only read the first Throne of Glass novel, and you are so right! I was thinking of Caraval, but YEP. Throne of Glass is a culprit too. Have you read the others? Are they worth it?

I could not complete the first book. I would stab myself than read Celaena describe another queen's gown again.

I will pick it up before the month ends. Actually, I plan to complete the duology before 27th May. That is because King Of Scars is a thing and holy shit the cover is everything. So I plan to be done with Six of Crows and Crooked kingdom so that I can decide if I want to read the Grisha trilogy and thus by extension, King of Scars.
Yeah it is all way better planned than my career.

If you’re really interested in King of Scars and are already planning on reading the Grisha trilogy and six of crows, I would recommend reading the Grisha trilogy first. There are spoilers in Crooked Kingdom for the main character in King of Scars. Buuuuuut if you don’t care, then no worries 🙂 I found it a much more pleasant reading experience reading the Grisha trilogy first overall!
