RATINGS: 4.5 STARS FOR BEING WICKED
I know this sounds ridiculous but can everyone just sit down, grab popcorn and look at the cover? Trust me, everyone had their fair share of covergasm but what nobody noticed before reading that the cover is one of the rare. Hats off to the graphic designers because the cover basically speaks volumes about the book in a subtle, yet not so subtle way.
The Wicked King was one of the most anticipated books of the year and the raging hype of ARC reviews didn't lessen it. Holly Black is a virtuoso who weaves words into enchanting, dark and twisted faerytale which sticks with you forever. The book beams with its refined power play yet render with its old binding ties. The old characters are back with their scheming, deceptive and manipulative minds to shock the readers and the new characters add substance and broaden the confines of the story. Our dearest Jude is back with her ambitious self, trying to put a leash on *coughs* her new power but fate is always a cruel mistress in the land of faeries. The characters show a new dynamism without taking the focus away from the plot. The refreshing thing about the series is that the background and lifestyle of faeries are enticing and dreadful in an unconventional way. It literally consumes the heart and soul of the readers. The newfound past, the tumultuous present and the unseen future of the faery lands holds the readers as captives till the end of the book. One of the rare predictable things about the book is that it ends up with another perilous cliffhanger. That's the reason why Holly Black is evil (in a good way, of course) because she keeps her readers in a year of misery to crave for the next book.
Update: The sequel is releasing this year instead of next. *happy dance ensues*

You're welcome, dear. 🌺🌷 I think that waiting that long for a book should be considered inhuman.

I just finished last night and I'm completely destroyed. I have no idea what to read next! 😱

I warned you. Now we're sailing in the same boat.😢

I should have listened... But the temptations... was impossible to resist!

I get it. It's ok.

Thanks a lot, Clare! I noticed it when I was still grasping everything I read in this book. The ending was fab.
