goodness me, russians are dramatic. and i wouldnt have it any other way.
tolstoy is a master character creator. and although he is very skilled at conveying pre-revolution life and society, i have found much more enjoyment in his characters (shoutout to my boy, levin) than the plot. that being said, there is a certain complexity in tolstoys method of storytelling. there isnt a clear resolution in sight for most of the novel, so it left me eager to see what the characters would do and how the story would play out.
also, on a side note, i am of the strong opinion that leo was on one when he chose the title for this.

Have you watched the movie with Vivian Leigh? It’s brilliant.
i havent! im not much of a movie person, but i really enjoyed this story, so maybe i will give it a try. thanks for the recommendation! :)

I love Anna Karenina. It´s the book that finally inspired me to learn this difficult and fascinating language russian is.

You write rave reviews about the vast majority of them too, so obviously, bc I can ALWAYS trust/ rely on your lovely reviews (FACT! 😊) , I want to give at least the ones that you adore an honest try. I actually am going to message you about this as soon as I post this comment ;-).Anna Karenina is a whole other deal lol. I seriously have a mini panic attack every time I think about actually giving this particular one a real try, even though it would now be as an adult. Sigh. *shudders* I had a complicated, just REALLY bad experience in 8th grade honors english; lol i’m scarred to this very day! I truly have a minor case of PTSD regarding this darn book. What could be so horrible, you ask? Long. story. 😅
As someone who is Russian, I can affirm that we are quite dramatic. 😂
