R.j. Mccarthy I saw the 3-star rating for Jhumpa Lahiri's "The Namesake." Haven't read it but I have read "Interpreter of Maladies" and "Unaccustomed Earth." For me, she not only writes beautifully but touches hidden chords in me as she moves artfully between two cultures. I'd probably rate her between 3's and 4's which is high for me, and I would recommend her. She has much to say.

Bookslut Yeah, I liked that book, but didn't love it. I am re-reading it right now for my bookclub's selection this month. She is a great craft-writer, really well-formed sentences and good use of descriptives, but this story didn't move me that much, I guess. Maybe I'll like it better upon re-read.
