This was the first book I've ever...wait for it... read by J.K. Rowling writing under a pseudonym as Robert Galbraith. Is this your reaction?

I know, I know.. where have I been? How could I have never read the Harry Potter series? To be honest, the hell if I know. In addition, I'm not a big fan of the fantasy genre. Anyhow, this was a great mystery novel. Although I figured out the "who-dunnit," I didn't wholly realize who it was until the last 50 pages. There were some parts that lagged, but overall, the writing was very well executed. I can't compare it to any of her other books, as I haven't read them, but if you like mysteries, especially those of the "who-dunnit" variety, you will definitely eat this one up.

I laughed at your review Crumb! In the nicest way. . . I enjoyed this series and am awaiting the next book with anticipation. I finally got around to reading Harry Potter a couple of years ago as a buddy read with my grandson, rather reluctantly it has to be said. But I was very pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed them. 😎

Crumb, I'm the same as you - I've never read a Harry Potter book (maybe we are the two left in the world?) but I do have this one on my TBR list. Your great review reminds me to check it out sooner than later.

Great review Crumb! I also have never read Harry Potter and I generally love fantasy, well executed fantasy that is. I have had this book in my hands and read a few pages, but was not immediately taken up into the story, so let it pass me by. I don't blame the book; I think it was just my mood at the time. May try again someday.
