's review

really liked it

description

It's an adventure story written in the style of an Icelandic saga. I listened to an audio version read by Michael Page. I'm not thrilled with the cover art on either it or the paperback. But if like Jordi Arkö' lithographs for it.

Markus I have just ordered "Icelandic Sagas". Your comment comes at the right time for me. Thanks.

Thank you!

The one that has a preface by Jane Smiley? At 800 plus pages, I expect that I'll enjoy reading your review before I read it. But, it sounds great. I got the ebook so the dust mites can't take it away from me.

It is by Alexander Craigie, 148 pages, does not mention any preface.

If you can give me an ISBN of that edition I will check it. the one with 148 pages can only be abridged. The offer on 'Bookdeposits' is extremely large and confusing.

In the meantime, I found the edition you mentioned and ordered it. Seems a more complete one anyway. Thanks again for the tip.

Lori Paperback is ISBN-13: 978-0141000039 and the hardback is ISBN-13: 978-0670889907, the ebook doesn't have an ISBN. It's ASIN is B002RI9HVQ

Thanks, Lori.

Martin Thanks for your review Lori, "The Long Ships" is one of my favorites.

With Vikings you would expect to see piracy and violence, but here there is also love, compassion, humor and religious tolerance.

Thank you, Martin! Easier to read than the saga with the same flavor.
