Forrest green, Forrest blues / I'm remembering you / This is love, I know it's true (Forrest Gump - Frank Ocean).

In this song, Frank Ocean expresses his yearning adoration for his lover by singing from the perspective of Jenny Curran from the movie Forrest Gump. I read it as a closeted person singing about his growing attraction to a man through the safe lens of heteronormativity. It's a way of hiding in plain sight, a declaration of love without having to say it aloud. It's a hesitant and hopefull cry acceptance. Sorry, here’s my review; I love this book, and I probably always will. It means as much to me today as it did yesterday. The world often isn't kind enough to those who want to be themselves. Sometimes you need to write a song from another's perspective to properly communicate your feelings, or you confide in your email pen pal as an outlet, or sometimes you even write a beautiful book about a gay boy who falls in love.

Remember in the movie when Simon is outed and the bullies are being really homophobic to him in the school cafeteria and all his friends just sit there and do nothing. And they had the audacity to get mad at Simon for "lying" to them!? I know this doesn't happen in the book, but I'm still bitter."
