Well that was a bizarre and painful experience. I really thought it would never end. Someone has compared her writing in this book to In Search of Lost Time and all I can say is that reading one book by this author took as much time and effort as reading that entire work did, except without interesting characters, plot or pay-off at the end.
I give it two stars only because its depiction of the sectarian life in Belfast was a portrayal of a community which has not been given much attention in the literary world.
