I can’t believe this. One more book left now. I’m sorry to see this series go. I save these books to read for Sundays, and it has been what I look forward to most the past several Sundays.

Admittedly, I have found Suze quite annoying and weak in this book, especially with how she handles Paul. This is such a shame because she has been so strong and capable and such a badass female protagonist before this Paul stuff. *sigh*

However, everything has worked out for the best in a way and I finish this book feeling content. Even though some things could have been better concerning Suze’s behavior, I am letting it go now because this book has ended in such a beautiful note. It makes it all� worth it, y’know?

I don’t even know what rating to give it with all of my conflicting feelings, but let’s go with 3.5 stars mainly for that on-point ending.

Also~~ I’m super excited (and sad) because the next book is the last book, but before that, we shall have the PROPOSAL NOVELLA. I’m curious to see the reason for why Meg Cabot has chosen a decade to return to this series. I hope this means the last book will be a worthwhile conclusion to Suze’s adventures <3

Even though Suze is officially dating Jesse and they love each other, Paul wants her too � and the way she responds is kinda confusing to me as the audience. On one hand, she finds him a bother for trying to get at her when she’s in love with Jesse, but on the other hand, she gets petty about him dating someone else and wondering why he didn’t ask her to the dance instead. She also often thinks about how good-looking he is (she admits what she feels for him is lust, not love though). Also, there’s this one scene where he kisses her on the lips, but it’s kinda brushed to the side cuz she didn’t make a big deal out of it.

I feel like the way Suze responds to Paul is tbh annoying.

The scene where she’s walking down the stairs and so happy with her family and Jesse being there. The dance.

When Paul finally gets his shit together and apologizes for everything and does the right thing and gives the $2000 back to that one family he stole from in the beginning. Tbh I hated him so much throughout this whole thing, and honestly hated Suze more for how weak she was with him � and lenient when he was a douchebag � like he literally stole money from a family in need when he’s rich AF already. I didn’t understand how she could let him flirt with her when she supposedly has “no interest� but she does, if she keeps on whining about how he didn’t ask her to the dance and obsessing about how good-looking he is. She’s so contradictory about Paul because he’s literally trying to make her boyfriend disappear and she whines about it, and yet, she has the audacity to sleep next to him (non-sexually) in a barn when she’s supposed to be stopping him from going forward with his evil plan. Like, uh, what?? What the fuck is she doing? Idk. She’s just so passive and weak in this book. ANYWAY, but by the end, when he finally gets his head straightened and gives the money back and apologizes to Suze and finally backs the fuck off � I’m just so relieved he has grown up. That relief is why this scene is one of my favorites because otherwise, I really wouldn’t understand why Suze was so lenient (which I also call “weak�) with him throughout this whole book. However, because he has redeeming qualities that we finally see � and not that “he’s into Suze� and “he’s hot� which is all we got so far and which is why Suze has been so weak with him up to this point (so fuckin� annoying). No, we finally see that he IS indeed redeeming because he reached out to his grandfather and is able to realize his mistakes and apologize for them and do things to make it better. Finally. Anyway, everything turned out for the best, especially with Jesse, so I’m less bitter about this situation.

The scene with the dad and finding out he’s the one who helped her bring Jesse to the hospital to meet his physical body (and thus, saving him) � and she thanks him and you realize how much he cares and has been watching over her all these years and then you find out he’s finally moving on. Such an emotional scene.

Then, when she returns to dancing with Jesse and we find out he’s a mediator too. (hide spoiler)]
