warning, unpopular opinion incoming!

this book was such a Disappointment i can't believe it like,, what was the point of this book?? where was the plot?? why did the book consist of 90% dialogue and nothing else???

tbh i can live without a plot if the characters are fleshed out and relatable but the only redeemable characters here were Dante who has my HEART and perhaps his family (and Legs because who doesn't love dogs?) but i absolutely could not connect to Ari like At All which is why i ended up skimming the last third of the book because i just couldn't stand to read a single word from his perspective anymore.

although i do have to say the fact that the book consisted of mostly dialogue and conversation only made it easy to fly through it but that's about it.

LIKE THE WRITING WAS SO BAD. at first i thought it was cool that there was so much dialogue because it made it easy to read but it quickly got on my nerves and frustrated the hell out of me because THE DIALOGUE WASN'T EVEN GOOD. NOT AT ALL. it literally went like:

"hey"
"sup"
"not much, you?"
"same."
"i just walked the dog."
"cool."
"yeah."
"okay."
"yep."
"gotta go."
"ok. see you tomorrow!"
"yeah, see ya."

did a 5-year-old write this?? is it that hard to add a simple 'Dante/Ari said' every once in a while??? how am i supposed to keep up and still know who is who after 3 pages of that kind of dialogue. and where is the emotion? it literally read to me like two robots were having a random ass conversation with each other, talking about the most random and trivial things.

so many of these conversations could have been left out because they were unnecessary and didn't provide anything for the characters or moved the plot forward.

AND SPEAKING OF THE PLOT. WHERE WAS IT. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS BOOK. WHAT WERE THE CHARACTERS' GOALS OR MOTIVATIONS BECAUSE I DIDN'T DETECT ANY.

anywho i'm not gonna write a whole long ass ranty review because i'm lazy and over it but those were the main points that i hated about this book and honestly,, i do not get the hype AT ALL i'm sorry

after writing this review i lowkey wanna change my rating to 1 star fhgjs but i'll keep the 2 stars for my son Dante i guess
