description

I'd heard this one was a hilarious little romance novel, but I've yet to giggle. Perhaps my sense of humor just doesn't line up with whatever is in this that's cracking everyone else up?
Sometimes what makes me laugh is a bit weird, so there's a really good chance it's just me.

description

It's not badly written or gross and skeevy, just not my cuppa.

MasterSal This is one of Ms Quinn鈥檚 earlier books. I remover reading it and liking it but not loving it. In my humble opinion her later books are better when she narrows her scope to more daily life. No spy plots to distract - more comedy of manners than saving by the (British) world as it were.

Anne I've (I think) tried Quinn before with mixed results. What is your favorite?

Hmmm... difficult for me to say since I generally like her books but again, I don't love them. I find them soothing so I read them after a run of bad novels. But of the ones I remember really enjoying and would recommend:
- Just Like Heaven: I giggled in this one
- Girl with the Make-Believe husband - not as funny but it's recent
- To Sir Phillip with Love - of the Bridgeton series I think this one was my favourite

Anne Thank you! I'll see if I can check these out. :)

Jason Donoghue hate not finishing books

Ran Anne, you're not alone. I spent a decent portion of time reading materials, asking myself what other people see in said materials. It's like a small psychology experiment every time ... except I'm not earning undergrad credit or a gift card. Gotta work on that part. Pay me coffee to read and review books that don't speak to me. Sounds like a fiscally viable plan, right? :P

Me too. I had a TON of books that I'd put on hold come in from the library all at once, but this one just didn't grip me enough to want to go back to it.

YES! I feel like I need to be somehow paid to read books I don't want to, at this point. I never used to DNF but life is just too short. I'll sometimes hate-read, but this one didn't even inspire hate. And it just didn't make me laugh. Like, at allllll. Totally different type of humor, I guess.

MasterSal Anne - I鈥檇 pay you to read and review books. One coffee cup per book sounds reasonable to me to get through some 鈥済ems鈥. You will have to supply the book though :(

I'd take you up on that. I love coffee!

MasterSal Do you have a Patreon or one of those but me coffee accounts? I鈥檒l send you my list and contribution...

MasterSal *buy me coffee accounts

message 13: by Anne (new) - added it

Anne Hah! I should set up a Patreon account for my coffee/book addictions. Totally worthy cause, people!

Jeff Tiny Tim gif for the win.

message 15: by Anne (new) - added it

Anne *tips hat*
Figured you'd like that.

message 16: by Jeff (new)

Jeff I think if you used a picture of Tiny Tim holding a bunch of cats as your profile picture, you'd never be troubled by creepers again.

message 17: by Anne (new) - added it

Anne If the picture I use doesn't scare them off, not even Tiny Tim and his kitten fetish could kill their need to troll.

message 18: by Jeff (new)

Jeff Sorry, that cutesy sneer does little to mask the adorableness that is you.

message 19: by Anne (new) - added it

Anne Ah yes, I'm often call adorable. It's a curse, I tell you!

Jonetta If you鈥檙e in the mood for a romantic comedy, I鈥檝e a couple to recommend that you might enjoy.

message 21: by Holly (new)

Holly I've read three Julia Quinn books, and I rated all of them 3 stars. They aren't bad, they just aren't particularly great either. *shrug*
