Mark André Thank you, Ilse! >)
Nice to hear from you. Just playing with my shelves. One of the most difficult books I’ve ever tackled. Faulkner leaves you elated, but permanently damaged too.

Mark André Thank you, Big Hard Books & Classics. >)
Good to hear from you. Great book. Stubborn read. I’m sure it gets tossed to the flames more often than Ulysses!

Ilse Mark, I thought it one of the most difficult books I have ever read as well. I loved Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying so much I read it several times, but thought this a hard nut to crack :)

Mark André It took me three tries to finally get through it. Faulkner, to use an American idiom “plays hardball. He seems to have no sympathy for his audience as to whether they read this book or not. Fierce, powerful, disturbing story. Strange independent style. Yes! It’s a monster. >)

Mark André Thank you, Lisa! >)
Very nice to meet you. Faulkner plays by his own rules. Very strange stories, very oddly written. Disturbing. Not for everyone. Only if you dare.

Mark André Thank you, Petra! >)
Nice to hear from you. A very special book. The most difficult read I know of. Not for everybody, but a massive experience for those who dare.

Mark André Thank you, Richard. >)
Good to hear from you. Powerful writing. A must for Faulkner fans!

Mark André Thank you, Noah. >)
Good to hear from you. A most challenging book. Faulkner leaves you shaken and disturbed. Not for all audiences.

Mark André Thank you, Shirin! >)
Nice to hear from you. Faulkner is a special case. Very strange stories, told in a very idiosyncratic way. Strong writing. Challenging reading. For adults, only.

Nice to hear from you. I know of no other American author who generates so much controversy. It’s either all in or all out, there is no middle ground with Faulkner.

Nice to hear from you. A most difficult author’s most difficult book. A true challenge, but a monumental blockbuster. If you can fight your way through you will be forever changed.

So nice to hear from everyone. I apologize for grouping everyone together. (Not my usual way.) I was a bit surprised by the wealth of enthusiasm for mr. Faulkner’s most famous book! He is a most controversial and challenging author. It took me three determined, stubborn efforts to finally finish this book. There is a rhythm to his prose but it takes patience and perseverance to find it. What ultimately attracts the reader to this author, besides his fascinatingly way of storytelling is his incredibly weird, original and disturbing imagination. To read Faulkner is to go somewhere different and to leave permanently changed. Certainly not to everyone’s liking, but a one of world literature’s Titans at my house!✍

Cool!😎 It is a bear of a book, but it’s fame is most justified. Have fun!

Mark André Thank you, The Book Addict Marie Verdu! >)
Nice to hear from you. One of the most challenging books in the whole library. Takes courage and patience and determination to read, but it rewards with an experience rarely achieved in literature. Highly recommended!

Nice to hear from you. Been having a Faulkner Fest of sorts. Truly an acquired taste. Weird, challenging storytelling. Very disturbing story. A must for Faulkner fans!

Nice to hear from you. Faulkner is a special case. Certainly not to everyone’s liking. This book, his most recognizable, probably gets rejected more than Joyce’s Ulysses. But for the adventurous there is much substance beyond the clamor. A great book. A very difficult read. And a startling sense of engagement when you’re done.

Nice to hear from you. A very famous book. A very famous author. Not an easy read. Not for all audiences. It is what it is. Faulkner hits you full force, guns blaring, take no prisoners, but if you finish, I guarantee you’ll know and remember that you’ve been someplace rather special.

Mark André Thank you, Maria! >)
Nice to hear from you. As tough a read as you’ll come across in a lifetime. Frustrates more potential readers than Ulysses. Yet, if you accept the challenge it can be one of the most enduring reading experiences. Faulkner does his best to leave you damaged, playing a tune most unpleasant to hear but also most difficult to turn away from. Strong stuff for sure.

Mark André Thank you, Lucia! >)
Nice to hear from you. The most interesting question with Faulkner is why read him at all. His books are not easy and they’re not fun either, so why do readers continue to subject themselves to his weird difficult disturbing tales. Because there is in his presentation and his elaborate imagination the presence of a most compelling narrative voice like no other in literature. His pages force you to read them for the myriad colors and the emotive violence they display. Not for all audiences.

Nice to hear from you. It’s everything that has been said about it. A very difficult, it seems rather intentionally, book to read, to understand, or to enjoy. Certainly not to everyone’s liking, but for those of us who persevere an experience to be remembered uncomfortably for a very long time. Powerful and disturbing. A must for Faulkner fans.

Nice to hear from you. It’s a bear of a book! Not to everyone’s taste. Probably gets abandoned more often than Ulysses. Challenging experience to read and understand. An American classic well worth the time and trouble. Faulkner will take you somewhere you never been before. Somewhere you won’t even like, but you will respect yourself for going there. A very special book.

Nice to hear from you. It’s a very challenging book. Certainly not for all audiences. But if you like the taste of great books this is one you will remember for a long time. Faulkner writes with a force quite unique in literature. Worth a try.

Nice to hear from you. From my own experience, when I finally got through to the end, I went back and reread the beginning, which had given me so much trouble, and it made perfect sense the second time. Be brave, be patient, have fun. It’s worth the trouble!

Very nice to meet you. A reading adventure like no other I’ve ever experienced. A true masterpiece, most worthy of it’s famous reputation!
