I think it's more a 3,5*
I don't know what I expected but it sure wasn't what I got! (Yeah shame on me, I actually did not see the movie up until a day after finishing this book)
Tbh the big plot twist towards the end of the book wasn't that big of a twist to me. It was actually pretty obvious. But to be fair, I think back in the day when this was published, it probably was something new and shocking. Nowadays this is used so often as a plot that it just didn't surprise me anymore.
But besides that it was so unique and intriguing, I enjoyed it a lot. It's not like anything else I've read in my life. It took some time to get used to the writing style but once I did it was quite genius.
Still, I can't give this more than 3,5*.
I really don't know what keeps me from giving it 4*, but something just didn't klick with me while reading, I guess.
PS: I watched the movie the day after I finished this and I can't really say what I enjoyed more.

Ups sorry, hab deinen Kommentar gar nicht mitbekommen. Hab den Film direkt danach geguckt, bin aber tatsächlich unsicher, weiß nicht wirklich was mir besser gefallen hat!
Nice review, Kayla! The movies was a surprise when came out in theaters, based on a shocking story. I'm curious to read the book, especially so much years after the first publication. Maybe some elements are too common today. :)
Den Film finde ich tatsächlich noch ein bisschen besser als das Buch :) Für mich war das ein mega Plottwist, und ich glaube, es könnte sein, dass das für dich nicht so überraschend war, weil der Twist halt unzählige Male von anderen Werken kopiert wurde :D Ich fand das Buch mit 4 Sternen wirklich gut :3

Hätte ich die Geschichte früher erlebt, hätte sie vermutlich einen größeren Einfluss auf mich gehabt.

Ich finde sie so super genial :D
Das stimmt! Hab nach beenden des Buches auch nochmal n bisschen durchgeblättert und danach gesucht. Im Buch hab ich nicht ganz so die Bindung zu ihrem Charakter aufbauen können, im Film hat Helena Carter so eine geniale Show abgeliefert, dass ich mich ein bisschen verliebt hab :D
I know the big twist already so I am not sure if i will enjoy the novel because of that. What do you think?
Ja, ich finde den Film besser als das Buch. Ich finde den Film schockierender! Einen Mann in Suppe pinkeln zu sehen..... sehr schrecklich!!! Einen Mann in Suppe pinkeln zu lesen.... ein bisschen humorvoll!
