it was amazing

I usually don’t write reviews before I’m finished, but BECOMING is about substance, not plot. Michelle Obama makes me feel like a teenage fangirl screaming at a Beatles concert. Her words are poetic, the substance important.

I’m listening to the 19 hrs and I have tears running down my face at the beauty of her voice and the elegance of her words. I miss her national presence everyday. Michelle’s voice is so soothing, so brilliant. I feel so lucky to have had her as my First Lady for 8 glorious years. I’m not usually an audiobook person, and if she wasn’t reading BECOMING I would have gotten the kindle version.

I highly recommend the audio, even if you’re not typically an audiobook fan.

Four hours in, the summer of her sophomore year at Princeton, her elderly relatives begin to pass away, people with affectionate nicknames whom I came to know through Michelle’s anecdotes. My eyes watered as if someone I knew had died. With over 15 hours still to hear, I already don’t want this book to end.
