American Gods (American Gods, #1)

Wow! What a great joy to find an author I've vever read and three of his books at the same used bookstore. I wanted to read this book because other Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ friends added very interesting questions to the trivia quiz.
It's rare to find a book that envelopes me from page one and that I can't wait to get home or finish what I'm doing to pick it up again.
The story, the concept, the premise, the characters were all so unlike anything I have read before, and I had to read the last 50 or so pages in little spurts so that I didn't finish it too soon.
Addendum - Wed. May 17, 2017
On Fri. April 28 of this year three of my nieces came over to relieve me of a huge stack of my favorite books that I wanted to turn over to new readers. I gave away my original copy of American Gods because I had no idea that I would ever want to read it again, especially as it was coming to Starz as a ten part series two days later.
Sure enough, on Sunday, April 28, 2017 I watched Episode 1. I enjoyed it so much I saw it again on Monday and again on Tuesday. The same thing happened the next week; I watched Episode #2 three days in a row. After that, last Wedenesday, I decided that I had to reread it, as I was so fascinated with the series, but couldn't remember the details too well. The local libraries were deplete of it as were my local book consignment stores, so I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a new hardcover version. According to the author, it contains 12,000 words more than the original, though I could recognize what was new.
Anyway, the series is EXQUISITE! It follows the book pretty well (absolutely exactly in many cases), with a few new scenes thrown in that were not in the book and a few changes that worked very well.
No spoilers. I watched Episode #3 the required three times and just finished reading the book this morning. That gives me seven more episodes to look forward to watching three times each.....

I did really like Gaiman's book "Neverwhere" though. I highly recommend that one (the A&E series wasn't nearly as good as the book).
