I was genuinely surprised to see so many 4 and 5 star ratings for this book.
Yeah, I keep hearing that the cut version is better. I always wind up thinking that King never knows what to do with the end of his books.

Its only recently I found out the version I read was over 200 pages shorter than it is now, so I have to agree that the short version was good. i cannot see what could be added to the book to be honest.
I think the extra content is mostly just added (and unnecessary) characterization.
I absolutely loved everything about this book UNTIL . . . deus ex machina!! Dammit. Worst Stephen King ending I've ever read
I was flabbergasted by that ending. I like the first half of the book much better than the second half.
