liked it

At those times it seemed that she was within touching distance of the dark angel that had flown silently over Egypt, killing the firstborn of every house where the doorpost wasn’t daubed with blood. That frightened her most of all. She became a child again in her fear.

I came for the challenge and stayed for the deus ex machina.

message 2: by TAP (new) - rated it 3 stars

TAP I was genuinely surprised to see so many 4 and 5 star ratings for this book.

TAP Yeah, I keep hearing that the cut version is better. I always wind up thinking that King never knows what to do with the end of his books.

I first read this many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its only recently I found out the version I read was over 200 pages shorter than it is now, so I have to agree that the short version was good. i cannot see what could be added to the book to be honest.

TAP I think the extra content is mostly just added (and unnecessary) characterization.

Tym I absolutely loved everything about this book UNTIL . . . deus ex machina!! Dammit. Worst Stephen King ending I've ever read

TAP I was flabbergasted by that ending. I like the first half of the book much better than the second half.
